PBS LearningMedia Focus: Gravity

Grade Range: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12

PBS LearningMedia offers a huge amount of videos, interactives, and multimedia pieces on all things gravity. From envisioning the hypothetical scenario of a person falling into a hole through the center of the Earth to interacting with Galileo's experiments, your students will come to better understand and explain this universal force.

Project VoiceScape

Grade Range: 6-8, 9-12  

With POV's new series, student filmmakers use digital media tools to create compelling stories about issues and concerns important to them. Use any of these documentaries with your students to open up a dialogue about a number of topics. You can submit your students' projects to the Project VoiceScape for the chance to have their work nationally displayed, as well.

PBS LearningMedia Focus: Paragraph Development

Grade Range: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12

Through these PBS LearningMedia resources, help your students better understand the often difficult process to academic writing. From using graphic organizers to arrange and see their thoughts and ideas to creating a meaningful hypothesis for any number of subjects, these resources will help your students form better ideas and more deeply understand their writing.

PBS Teacherline:  Global Climate Change Education for High School 

Grade Range: Professional Development 9-12 Educators 

STEM teachers, you are invited to participate in an exciting opportunity to help evaluate the effectiveness of a new online graduate course, Global Climate Change Education for High School, by serving as a Control Teacher. As an incentive, you will receive a $50 stipend for completing the evaluation instruments and for completing a PBS TeacherLine course in science, math, or technology for high school. Courses start October 26.

Teach Kids About the Benefits of Healthy Eating

Grade Range: PreK-2, 3-5 

K-6 teachers, home school, and after school programs can win $500, $750, even $1,000 for their classroom by entering the Play With Your Produce Classroom Challenge. Teachers and their classes are challenged to keep a weekly eating log and complete a lesson plan that teaches kids about healthy eating habits.

The weekly news programs targeted at students grades 4-8 begins its new season. A fast-paced, interactive program, Assignment the World, covers the top news stories of the week and helps its viewers understand the world around them by examining the events in other countries. Episodes are available to download as well.

Arthur's Sleepover 

Grade Range: 1-3

Everyone loves a sleepover. Join IPTV for this exciting ICN session where we will engage your students through interdisciplinary activities designed to foster learning:  pack suitcases with sleepover words, read Arthur's Sleepover, and vote on your favorite book genre.

Munch My Math

Grade Level: 1-4

In this hands-on ICN session, presenters lead students in a variety of edible math activities. Students will create bar graphs representing their favorite brand of cereal, build an abacus, and create their own math equations, while having the chance to eat their work! The session provides excellent opportunities for estimating, sorting, comparing, adding, subtracting, and finding patterns.

Career Day: Makeup Artist

Grade Level: 9-12  

During this ICN session, students will meet a makeup artist who works in the television industry. Learn the valuable role makeup artists have in ensuring that models, television hosts, and performers have suitable makeup and hairstyles before they appear in front of cameras. This is an excellent session for students who are interested in art, design, fashion, theater, television broadcasting, or makeup.
