Welcome to our first newsletter for 2016, an invitation to help us celebrate our 15th Anniversary! Below we are showcasing two new initiatives; one is a unique scholarship for "comical" local graduating students, with a movie premiere kick-off, and the other, also a premiere, our latest video hi-lighting how some of our local charities, and more than 30 students, have benefited from grant funding for summer jobs.
Over the past 15 years, the Community Foundation has touched the lives of everyone in our community. If you are passionate about community priorities and would like to volunteer on our board or one one of our committees, we invite you to read on!
YOU ARE INVITED
Movie Premiere at the Aron Theatre in Campbellford
March 10th at 7:30 p.m. and March 11th at 2:00 p.m.
The Campbellford/Seymour Community Foundation, in partnership with the Aron Theatre Co-operative Inc., is proud to premiere the animated movie "The Seventh Dwarf" at the Aron Theatre, to launch a new scholarship fund in memory of Joe Marth.
This scholarship will be awarded to the Campbellford District High School student who loves to make people laugh and helps create an "upbeat and positive atmosphere" at the school.
Joe Marth was a local entrepreneur and a celebrity radio host under the name of Joey Martin. He was also an accomplished voice actor with a specialty in animated films.
"In the movie, Joe voices the part of Cooky, the pleasantly plump drawf who is a baker and loves food," said Martha Murphy, the Executive Director of the Community Foundation, and Joe's widow. "Joe was a foodie and he really enjoyed voicing the part."
Local schools will be attending a number of matinees at the Aron Theatre this week. There will be two shows open to the public - Thursday March 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday March 11 at 2:0 0 p.m.
The Joseph Rudolf Marth Memorial Scholarship  is accepting nominations from student peers and teachers. The nomination forms are available at CDHS and the Campbellford/ Seymour Community Foundation office.
Mark White, the President of the Aron Theatre said, "We are so pleased to recognize local talent and provide this community-owned theatre to celebrate the launch of the scholarship. All net proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the scholarship endowment fund managed by the Community Foundation."
There is a special ticket price for the movie of $5 per person, to make it affordable for all to attend.

We are accepting gifts to this Scholarship Fund

Make a donation in memory of Joe Marth, or to show your support for local graduating students that are recognized by their peers for contributing to a fun school atmosphere. Call our office at 705-653-2005 for more information.
