Movies in the Park - Coming Soon!
Movie Title Announcement Party - Sept. 15

What: Movies in the Park Announcement Party
Date: Thurs., Sept. 15
Time: 6:00-8:00 pm
Where: Ale & Witch courtyard - 111 2nd Ave. NE

It's September...soon we can think about hints of fall and enjoying St. Petersburg Preservation's October Movies & Music in the Park! SPP will be announcing the movie titles and bands at the Sept. 15 Movie Announcement Party. Join us for the fun and get to be the first to tell your friends which movies will be on the big screen and which bands will be on stage. Also, get the first look at the movie poster created by Carrie Jadus, our favorite local artist, who creates a unique collectible poster for each Movies in the Park series.

We like to have fun at the Announcement Party! SPP will have movie trivia questions ready to ask, each providing a hint to the movies to be shown! Be the first to guess one of the October movie titles and SPP will have a prize for you! At the party, movie posters & note cards will be available for a special Movie Party price.

And like Movies in the Park, the Announcement Party is FREE!  You will probably want to try one of the Witch's American craft beers and by doing so during the party you will help support Movies in the Park.  A portion of the beer sales' proceeds will be donated to SPP for Movies in the Park.  Thanks Brett and the crew at the Ale & Witch

Thanks to all of our generous Movie sponsors, including Oscar sponsors Raymond James and HCA West Florida; and platinum sponsors Bill & Jeanne Heller. To see a complete list of our community's generous movie sponsors, click here.
Landmark Action Alert!
Send Your Message Now to the City

What: Landmark District Application public hearing for Downtown's First Block/Detroit Block
When: September 13th at 3 pm at city hall before the city's preservation commission (CPPC)
How You Can Help: Attend the hearing!! Send a message to the city. Tell them you want to Keep St. Pete Special and support historic district designation for First/Detroit Block. We've made it simple to send a message, just click here!

Your help is needed to keep the block where the city started special! It's the block bordered by Central & 1st Ave. N. and 2nd & 3rd Streets, home to the 1888 Detroit & 1910 Bishop Hotel, among other historic buildings. The block has gone by various names, including First Block, the Detroit Block, Janus Landing and Block 25.

In 2014, city council initiated the block's historic district application but
property owner objection has kept it from moving forward. The city's preservation commission (CPPC) has scheduled a public hearing for  September 13 at 3 pm. City Council will subsequently take final action on the application.

Some of the block owners have stated they want the  unfettered right to te ar down the block's historic buildings and to replace them with high rises. Make your voice heard to help protect the block from incompatible development. For, more info, check out SPP's First Block page
