All of us tend to have a complicated relationship with money. It elicits a myriad of mixed emotions and it's not always easy or comfortable to talk about, but Jesus talked about it A LOT. In fact, Jesus talked about money more than anything else. Why? Because Jesus wants us to experience true peace and true freedom in every area of our multi-faceted lives, especially the ones we struggle with the most. Join us for this new message series that will explore what it looks like to have a healthy relationship with our resources in the hopes of getting it right on the money.

Dr. Bill Bouknight will be teaching in the Traditional services and Nate Gibson, Director of Business Operations, will be teaching in the Auditorium.

Business Leaders Lunch

We had a wonderful time at our inaugural luncheon in August and have been looking forward to hosting you and your colleagues again on November 14th for our second Business Leaders Network Luncheon. This quarter we have built in some additional networking time, will launch a monthly breakfast study and will be joined by David Bennett, Lexington District 1 Athletic Director, as he shares insights with us on building successful teams.

We'd be honored to have you join us and feel free to bring your coworkers as well. The luncheon will be on Tuesday, November 14th from 12 to 1:15pm in the Student Room. There is no cost for this lunch and learn, but please register so we can make sure we have plenty of food for everyone.

Fall Festival
November 18th

This year, we're throwing a fall festival. It's going to be bigger, better, and more than anything we've done before. Speaking of fun, there's going to be a crazy amount of giant inflatables to play on. For those music fans out there, Fall Festival will have some really good bands for your enjoyment with everything from bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock and even more. It doesn't stop there, though. We're going to have fireworks, food trucks, hay rides, rock walls and the list goes on. But you know what? This isn't just for you. Don't go holding out on your friends, neighbors and family. Bring them! We didn't throw this festival for ourselves. Sure, we want everyone at Mt. Horeb to have a great time, but we want this to be a treasured, fun time for everyone in our community. It's already going to be a night you won't forget, but let's make sure it's an evening Lexington always remembers."

Circles USA Poverty Simulation

We're joining with Circles USA as part of an initiative to better understand the problem of poverty so we can more effectively solve poverty in our community and minister to those affected by it. Circles USA is a program intent on inspiring and equipping families and communities to thrive and resolve poverty. By engaging individuals as well as societies, institutions and communities, Circles USA strives to establish a healthy environment for lasting prosperity and support for those struggling with poverty.

As part of our Circles USA program, we are offering a poverty simulation designed to help participants begin to understand the complexities of poverty and what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. You will assume the roles of a particular family facing poverty and be tasked with providing the basic necessities and shelter during the course of several 15-minute "weeks." Circles USA is currently in more than 70 communities across North America offering a unique relationship-based strategy that engages the entire community to move from a focus on the management of poverty, to collaborative ownership of the solutions to poverty.

There are two opportunities to participate: Sunday, November 5th from 5:15-7:15 PM and then Wednesday, November 8th from 6-8 PM. The simulations will take place in the auditorium; elementary age children and older are welcome to participate. We will extended the M Kids program time to 8 PM, to provide opportunities for families with children to attend. We ask that you register here  so that we will have an idea of how many people to accommodate for. If you have any questions, email Pastor Nick at [email protected] .

Classes

Get Out of Debt Class
Getting into debt is easy, getting out requires a strategy and discipline...but the formula is not hard. In this two-week class we will create a debt plan and discover the exact day your family will be free from the stronghold of debt, and develop strategies to hold ourselves accountable to this plan. The class will be held in room 222 from 6:15pm to 7:30pm on November 12th and 19th. No registration is required.
