Building a strong home begins with a solid foundation. Core is an eight week series focusing on establishing a firm foundation at Mt. Horeb about what we believe and why we believe it. As a family of Christians living and serving together in our community, we want to make sure we grow together and foster unity in our mission to live the Gospel in its fullness. Join us each Sunday as we seek to mature in unison and reinforce this firm foundation in Christ.

Pastor Trevor Miller will be preaching on "Better Together" in the Contemporary Service this Sunday at 10:45 and Pastor Nick Cunningham will be preaching on "Prayer Driven" in the Traditional Service at 9:00.

We are so pleased that Bishop Jonathan Holston, our resident Bishop of The South Carolina Annual Conference, will be delivering the message today at our 9:00 Contemporary and 10:45 Traditional services. He has held this position since September 1, 2012. Bishop Holston earned his Bachelor of Arts in religion from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and his Master of Divinity in biblical studies from The Interdenominational Theological Center, Gammon Theological Seminary, in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983. He has served on numerous boards and committees in The United Methodist Church at the conference and general church level. His love for missions has taken him around the world. The South Carolina Annual Conference is blessed to have Bishop Jonathan Holston and we welcome him here with us today.

Food Drive

Our annual food drive benefitting the Backpack Ministry will begin on October 15th. We will have a list of food items and a bag for you to pick up in either of our buildings beginning next Sunday. We ask that you bring those items back to the church on October 22nd.

Share The Warmth

Our annual coat drive is in full swing. There will be tables set up outside the worship center doors with coat sizes and gender of child for you to choose from. We ask that you bring your coats back to the church by October 22nd. These coats will be given to children in our community who would not have one otherwise.

Circles USA Poverty Simulation

We're joining with Circles USA as part of an initiative to better understand the problem of poverty so we can more effectively solve poverty in our community and minister to those affected by it. Circles USA is a program intent on inspiring and equipping families and communities to thrive and resolve poverty. By engaging individuals as well as societies, institutions and communities, Circles USA strives to establish a healthy environment for lasting prosperity and support for those struggling with poverty.

As part of our Circles USA program, we are offering a poverty simulation designed to help participants begin to understand the complexities of poverty and what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. You will assume the roles of a particular family facing poverty and be tasked with providing the basic necessities and shelter during the course of several 15-minute "weeks." Circles USA is currently in more than 70 communities across North America offering a unique relationship-based strategy that engages the entire community to move from a focus on the management of poverty, to collaborative ownership of the solutions to poverty.

There are two opportunities to participate: Sunday, November 5th from 5:15-7:15 PM and then Wednesday, November 8th from 6-8 PM. The simulations will take place in the auditorium; elementary age children and older are welcome to participate. We will extended the M Kids program time to 8 PM, to provide opportunities for families with children to attend. We ask that you register here  so that we will have an idea of how many people to accommodate for. If you have any questions, email Pastor Nick at [email protected] .

Fall Festival

We are so excited to about our church wide Fall Festival date of November 18th from 3-7 PM. There will be festivities for the whole family to enjoy. We have cards for you to take and invite your friends and neighbors. Ask the Guest Services desk for them if you would like to help us in making this a community event.
