December 1st, 2017

It's hard to beat a great surprise. It's part of what makes this time of the year so great. At the heart of the Christmas story is a big cosmic surprise. The God of the universe comes...as a baby.

See it's not enough to believe in God, but ultimately what matters is the kind of God you believe in. This baby born in a manger reveals to us a God that is drastically different than any sort of God we could come up with ourselves. Truly lacing our trust in this God, born in a manger, has the potential to change everything. We hope that you will join us this advent series as we celebrate this God revealed to us in Jesus-a God who is for us, with us, and who longs to bring about new miracles through us.

Pastor Faye Stephens will be teaching in the Auditorium and Pastor Drew Martin will be teaching in the Sanctuary.

Join us Sunday, December 17th from 4-6 PM as Mt. Horeb continues its Christmas tradition of caroling in our community and delivering fruit baskets to homebound members. We'll return to the church to enjoy chili, hotdogs and hot apple cider. At 6:30 PM, everyone is welcome to gather in the sanctuary for a time of continued singing.

Christmas Eve Service Opportunities

On Christmas Eve, we will host thousands of guests from our community. In order to make it an impactful experience for them, we are seeking volunteers to serve as greeters, refreshment attendants, guest services or as a usher, at one of our services. No previous experience required - just a desire to serve people. Sign up in the registration pad on Sunday, or email Nate Gibson at
[email protected] for more information.

Advent Offering

On Christmas Eve, we will take up a special offering, a sacrificial gift that will go above and beyond our tithe, to fight against the atrocity of human trafficking. The money from the Advent Offering will go to two strategic partners who are working to confront this evil. One partner is local and the other is international. The local partner is an organization called Lighthouse for Life and they are in the process of opening a rescue home/safe house for children who are being rescued out of sex trafficking. Our international partner, Child Restoration International, is working in India where 200 million children are at risk. Our goal is to raise $500,000 which will be divided between these 2 organizations. Let's allow God to birth a miracle through us this Christmas as we give sacrificially.

In addition to the special offering on Christmas Eve, we will also be selling scarves that are made in India. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Advent Offering. Stop by one of the tables in the East and West buildings to purchase a gift that gives freedom in Jesus' name.
