Muddy Waters' son Big Bill Morganfield's headlines the West Coast Muddy Waters Blues Festival.
Celebrate Black music month with Blues in Los Angeles, June 17th.
June is Black music month and nothing speaks more to Black music like the Blues. Come celebrate this
original American art form in Los Angeles on Saturday June 17 th in Leimert Park. Big Bill Morganfield will
headline the show with special guests: Bernie Pearl, Mississippi Bo, The Other Mules, The King Brothers
& The Harmony Project.
Maintaining this music tradition, this event is hosted by two time Grammy nominated Barbara Morrison,
a renowned Blues singer. As Ms. Morrison said "Blues is an Original American art form born in the
United States and recognized around the world as an incredible creative force. Although many people
tried to describe the Blues, it is best when it's felt". As the curator of the California Jazz and Blues
Museum 4317 Degnan and the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, she is a living legend.
To culminate this festival Big Bill Morganfield, son of the legendary Muddy Waters will perform June 17,
2017 in Los Angeles' Leimert Park. Born in Chicago but raised by his maternal grandmother in Florida,
Big Bill knew little about his father's Blues legacy until late in Muddy's life. Morganfield was on the all-
star bill for a 1997 Kennedy Center tribute to his dad which featured band members and icons including,
Keith Richards further building his reputation and momentum. Come to this wonderful outdoor event
and listen, sing, and experience "Down Home Blues".
