Rossy Rays Riders Conquer the Coniston 10,000!

In our March e-news we revealed that our managing director Paul Mulderrig was undertaking a mammoth cycle ride in order to raise funds for the Rossendale Rays, a swimming club for disabled children.

Earlier this month Paul set out to tackle the Coniston 10,000 (named after the 10,000 feet of off road climbing the cyclists have to endure) over three days along with several other local businessmen.

We are happy to report that all of the riders came through the challenge with flying colours!

In fact, according to several of the cyclists activity trackers, the total elevation they climbed was closer to 15,000 feet than 10,000.

A number that was entirely appropriate because this year the group raised over £15,000 for the Rossy Rays!

Mulderrigs would like to congratulate Paul and his fellow riders on a quite remarkable achievement as well as a massive thank you to the people who donated to this worthwhile cause.

Here's to next years ride!

£65,000 for cyclist run off the road by driver

Mulderrigs recently settled a cycling accident claim on behalf of our client Mr Downton.

Mr Downton was riding a pedal cycle along a residential road only wide enough for one vehicle due to parked cars on either side. A car driver came along in the opposite direction at high speed, completely filling the road, and Mr Downton had nowhere to go.

He broke heavily to avoid a collision and was thrown from his bike. He suffered a very nasty four-part fracture of his shoulder and eventually had to undergo a replacement operation despite being only in his early 40's. Mr Downton also suffered some facial and nasal injuries.

The insurers for the motorist denied any responsibility for the accident so Mulderrigs expert cycling team gathered all of the necessary evidence and got on with court proceedings.

Happily, as the case was approaching trial the insurers changed their position and agreed to pay our client £65,000 in compensation.
