Mural Art Unveiling in Pulaski County

The Tippecanoe Arts Federation is pleased to announce the unveiling of a mural in Pulaski County. The unveiling will occur Saturday, July 21 at 5:00pm, 129 E. Pearl Street, Winamac, Indiana. Zach Medler, Indiana Artisan, and educators Don and Lynn Darda have collaborated with students and Pulaski residents to develop the concept and images that have been used in the mural.

This marks the eighth in the Federation's Mural Art Initiative program, which began in 2008. The project was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Pulaski County Community Foundation. The Mural Art Initiative is a collaborative educational outreach program that serves area under-served and at-risk youth populations. The three main objectives of the program are to visually enhance the community, promote the understanding of the benefits of the arts, and provide a lasting impact on those who participate in the development of the murals. Tetia Lee, the executive director of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation states that "Public artwork has a tremendously positive effect on a community. This specific mural references images that highlight elements of the greater community that make it unique and special to the residents and endearing to passers-by".

The public is invited to attend the unveiling that will also coincide with the grand opening of the restaurant, "Tippy's" and the 35th annual Northern Indiana Power From The Past festival.
