Festival of New American Musicals presents

Monday, June 8, 8 PM  @ Rockwell Table & Stage
1714 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027

Returning by popular demand, the Festival brings Musi-Cal back to Rockwell. Join our Musical Theater community! Meet SoCal songwriters and hear songs from their new musicals, featuring:

Erik Przytulski  (Music, Lyrics, Book)   & Steve Troop  (Book)
with songs from
"ALIEN VS. MUSICAL"

What happens when the world of musical theatre meets the most terrifying and destructive alien in all cinema history? Combining the spectacle and wonderment of a Broadway musical with the gruesome horror of extra-terrestrial mayhem and terror, ALIEN VS. MUSICAL is the brand new show that will find its way to your heart... literally!

Richard Berent  (Music)   & Rob Meurer  (Lyrics, Book)
with songs from
"HOW CAN IT BE YOU?"

"Liberal" Man meets "Conservative" Woman - each finds the other loathsome - and they can't keep their hands off each other. Through a relationship based solely on lust and mutual disgust, they grudgingly must find some common ground for a happily-ever-after that simply cannot be.

Gary Stockdale  (Music, Lyrics, Book) Spencer Green  (Lyrics, Book)
with songs from
"BUMPERSTICKER"

A musical whose songs are inspired by those famous, pithy, instantly recognizable slogans on the back-ends of cars and form a crazy quilt of all the diverse, conflicting aspects of American culture.

Brett Ryback  (Music, Lyrics, Book)
with songs from
"JOE SHMOE SAVES THE WORLD"

During the 2011 Arab Spring, a street artist in Iran must convince a skittish computer technician to allow her to use his father's construction site for a mural commemorating the following day's protest. As they spend the night locked in a stand-off, the young man shares with her the music of his favorite American indie-rock band, Joe Shmoe Saves the World, bringing the two worlds together in an act of collaboration that surprises them all.

And a song from a future Musi-Cal event:

David Cornue  (Music) & Sam Holtzapple (Lyrics)
from
"THE COMPOSITION OF TIME"

Hosted by Jonah Platt

"Musi-Cal is part of the Festival's ongoing priority to create community among Southern California's composers, lyricists and book writers" said Co-Executive Producer of the Festival Linda Shusett. " These Musi-Cal evenings offer an opportunity for the writers to get to know one another and for the audience to get a first peak at new musical works in progress."

And plan to stay after the show and chat with the writers and performers.
