Leroy Ellington Band

Leroy Ellington brings his versatile band to the Behringer-Crawford stage on Thursday, July 12 for a mid-summer Music@BCM performance extraordinaire.

A 30-year veteran of the local music scene, Ellington commands the stage with ease and confidence on vocals and saxophone, playing R&B, rock, soul, jazz and blues. He has been nominated for numerous industry awards, including five Cincinnati Music Awards. His CD "Blue Eyed Blues," was named "Best Self-Produced CD" by The Cincinnati Blues Society. In 2017, Leroy was a semifinalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

Music@BCM concerts are held in the museum's outdoor amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road-Devou Park, Covington, KY 41011. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the concert is from 7 to 9 p.m. In case of rain, performances move indoors. Parking is free.

Admission is $5 plus tax for adults and $3 plus tax for children ages 3-12 plus tax. Museum members pay for one admission and get the second one free. Adult beverages are available for purchase. Concert-goers can also purchase food by Colonial Cottage of Erlanger, KY, supporting local community organizations. Parking is free.

Music@BCM continues on July 19 with the music of Hot Magnolias.

fresh ART - Call to Artist Deadlines Approaching
Artists - want to be part of the excitement of  fresh ART 2018? Hurry! The application deadlines are next Monday, July 16, for  fresh ART, and Monday, July 30 for  silent ART.
 
fresh ART participants will spend two days creating original works to be sold at the live auction on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.  silent ART participants will submit previously completed work for the silent auction. Interested artists aged 18 and older should contact the museum at (859) 491-4003 and/or   download the application forms from: http://bcmuseum.org/activities/freshart.
Chippie's Sensational Science Lab:
On Tour at Fr. Hanses Park
Wednesday, July 11, 11 a.m.-noon
Behringer-Crawford Museum takes its science lab on the road to Covington’s Fr. Hanses Park for a pop-up session of summer fun inspired by BCM’s cheeky chipmunk mascot. Admission free in conjunction with the Covington Parks & Recreation Department.

4th of July Science
Thursday, July 12, 1-2 p.m.
Fireworks in a jar! Crystal seashells! Rainbow lemon eruptions! Celebrate Independence Day at BCM with colorful and exciting (yet age-appropriate) experiments. Cost: museum admission plus $3 lab fee per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration required by June 10: call (859) 491-4003.
Grand Day@BCM:
Hocus Pocus, Black Cats, & All That
Friday, July 13, 10:30-2 p.m.
It’s Friday the 13th, so let’s get spooky! Grandparents and grandchildren spend the day together exploring magic, superstitions and more of the completely strange at Behringer-Crawford Museum. Cost: $25 per couple for BCM members; future members $38. Additional children or "grands:" $15. Free parking. Pre-registration required at least two days prior to the event: (859) 491-4003.
Family-Friendly Fridays: SKOOL Aid
Friday, July 13, 7-8 p.m.
Kick off your family weekend with an exuberant enrichment program provided by Skool Aid. Have fun with drums with a game called Che Che Koolay, which involves drumming, percussion, singing and dancing. Plus, take the paper airplane challenge: create paper aircraft and send them flying off a launchpad. Cost: $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12. Free parking.

Tot Tuesdays!: Rainbows
July 17, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
You and your toddler will hear a story, make a rainbow craft and sing songs about those colorful arcs in the sky. Tot Tuesdays!, designed to help prepare preschoolers for reading readiness and socialization, are held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Admission is free for BCM members. For future members, cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors 60+ and $5 for children. There is a $1 craft fee per child.
