David and Tania have played together for many years, mostly in the Flying Bulgars and related "New Jewish" projects. Tonight, joined by Chris Banks, they will get into the jazz end of things, featuring their own, world-inflected compositions, along with a satisfying selection of standards. Spinning Out of Nothingness, a Unique Musical Duo Plays MUSIDEUM! This is a special BYOF event* The duo format is by nature the freest and possibly the most interactive set-up in music performance. Two performers who relish those qualities bring an evening of music that will draw you into a sonic world of beauty, darkness, fun and games. The two, award-winning Davids, each at the top of their respective games as instrumentalists and composers, will build the evening from the raw musical materials of their own compositions mixed with pieces from composers they love, including John Zorn, Dave Douglas, George Gershwin, Herbie Hancock, and ol' Johann Sebastian.
"Fiercely imaginative music that swaggers with volatile rhythms cushioning endlessly changing modes...an idiosyncratic, accessible gumbo...highly original, Buchbinder wields a mean trumpet and flugelhorn as well." -Toronto Star Spinning Out of Nothingness Special Concert at MUSIDEUM Saturday, February 25, 2012 $20 401 Richmond Street West, just east of Spadina Follow the signs... dB trumpet Dave Restivo piano perhaps a special guest or two... *BYOF = Bring Your Own Flask, filled with the tasty treat of your choice.
