Dan D'Agostino

Dan D'Agostino, founder of Krell, talked about the design philosophy he is using in his new signature line, Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems.  Dan founded his new company in 2009 to design and build in limited quantities the highest performance amplifiers.

Dan D'Agostino giving an enjoyable presentation

Dan demonstrated that he has very good understanding of how to translate electronic design into accurate music reproduction.  Like Andy Payor at Rockport Technologies Dan is not committed to some specific design principal such as ultra wide bandwidth or zero global feedback but to using his formidable knowledge to achieve a result.  That result is convincing music reproduction.  Like other craftsman, his designs cannot be created on an assembly line but requiring painstaking component selection and matching together with design elements such as the copper heat sinks that defy conventional manufacturing techniques but provide constant operating temperature for the output devices, essential in producing the result achieved.  These carefully instituted elements create an astounding result.  Although these new amplifiers are expensive they are still a great value.  We have auditioned far more expensive amplifiers that simply do not measure up in terms of music reproduction.

Now Dan has developed an Integrated Amplifier that combines exactly the Stereo amplifier and Preamplifier. It is virtually identical in performance to the separates at $45,000, $16,000 less than the separates.  In addition one saves a pair of interconnects, a power cable and Stillpoints.  The Integrated Amplifier received its U.S. introduction at our event.  It will continue to be available for audition.

Dan D'Agostino speaks about his new Momentum integrated amp

Brian Tucker

German made Audio Physic speakers were presented by their importer, Brian Tucker.  We have six models on display, ranging in price from $2490 a pair to $15,000 a pair.  We believe they also achieve great value through innovative design and custom craftsmanship.  Everyone who listened appreciated the musical integrity and extended bass response from the Classic 30.  Brian also talked about the latest turntables from Acoustic Signature, the WOW and the WOW SE.  Price of these tables begin at $1595.

Those who attended were astounded by our World Class System with Rockport Altair speakers, D'Agostino Momentum Preamp and Amp, Playback Designs MPS5 DAC/Player, Transparent Opus cables, Transparent power conditioning and Stillpoints Rack. This is system is on permanent display.  Come in and listen.

Integrated Amplifiers

The arrival of the D'Agostino Integrated amp prompted us to summarize what we offer in this product category.  If you choose carefully, integrated amps can be a great value with great performance culminating in the amazing Dan D'Agostino integrated amp we just introduced.

We have 12 integrated amps on the floor from 9 manufacturers. They span the price range from $500 to $45,000.  We're serious about this product category!  These many models encompass both tube and solid state and range in power from 50 watts to 300 watts.  Some have DACs and phono stages built in.  One even has a CD player built in.  We have created a web page for this category so that you can have a look at the basic information for each model.  Have a look then come in to listen.  We will help you focus on the one that is just right for you.

Why are integrated amplifiers a great value?  Perhaps there was a time when they were not. Some still are not a very good value.  For instance, Focusing on power rather than performance. We have chosen very carefully, auditioning and judging each for performance at its price.

Eventually makers of high performance amplifiers began to realize that they could create integrated amplifiers with high performance and lower prices than their separates.  How so? Cost is reduced by using one chassis and enclosure rather than two, one power cord, one power switch, perhaps one power supply or one power transformer and of course there is no interconnect.  Throughout the range of integrated amplifiers we offer, these factors accrue to produce great performance at a great price.

Another factor important to at least some user is the reduced space required and the reduced system complexity.
