Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme   

 

Managed by Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts in social and community contexts.

 

Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place/or interest to work together on contemporary collaborative arts projects.

 

The scheme is open to artists from any of the following artform disciplines: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts. The projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts including arts and health; arts in prisons; arts and older people; arts and cultural diversity.

CO-ORDINATOR MUSIC GENERATION (X 3 posts)

 

A Co-ordinator will be appointed by each authority and will be responsible for managing an extensive music education programme on behalf of Music Education Partnerships in each of the three regions.

 

All three regions have recently been selected for participation in Music Generation - Ireland's National Music Education Programme which is funded by U2 and The Ireland Funds. Music Generation aims to help children and young people to access vocal and instrumental tuition in their local area.

The European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme offers the opportunity for musicians interested in attending either of the above courses to apply for a Grundtvig In-Service Training Grant. Irish Baroque Orchestra   

 

IRISH BAROQUE ORCHESTRA presents BOUTIQUE BAROQUE, 24-27 January 2012.   

  

This pilot programme of audience talks, lunchtime recitals and workshops offers audiences an exciting opportunity to engage with the IBO and Baroque music in general, by exploring and discovering more of this fascinating period in history.   

  

The lunchtime talks/recitals feature outstanding harpsichordist MALCOLM PROUD, performing works by Bach, Telemann and Vivaldi, with guest speaker. All events take place at the Kevin Barry Room, National Concert Hall Dublin.

Call for applications, Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition

 

The Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition, created by Donatella Flick in 1990, aims to help a young conductor establish an international conducting career. 

 

The winner of the competition is offered, in addition to an award of £15,000, the opportunity to become Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra for up to one year.

 

The next competition will be held in London on 28-30 September 2012, and is open to conductors under the age of 35 who are citizens of the 27 countries having full membership of the European Union.
