In this workshop, you will learn:  · basic hand drumming technique  · effective use of percussion  · noise management  · drumming activities to engage people aged 2 to 102!  · how to adapt these for varying abilities  · how to create your own rhythmic 'pieces', and how to improvise  · how to choose appropriate activities based on musical, social, and communicative potential    The workshop will be led by Dr. Jane Bentley, from Glasgow , Scotland . She has been drumming in healthcare settings for the past decade, and has studied extensively with Arthur Hull, the principal founder of the community drum circle movement. Last year she was awarded the first ever PhD based on drum circles and improvisation, highlighting the effects of group music making on human wellbeing.    For further information, please contact:  grainnehope@gmail.com or call 087 9353276.
