The High Holy Days are only THREE WEEKS away!

Time to go through the checklist to make sure you'll have everything you need.

Have you:
  • Turned in your ticket request form? (For security purposes, everyone will need a ticket)
  • Submitted your Book of Remembrance names for inclusion? ( The deadline is here - please send in your form and payment today)
  • Reserved HHD Parking Spaces are available by bid at $250 each. Be sure to contact the office
  • Have you ordered your Lulav & Etrog set?
  • Do you have young ones to register for the HHD children's and youth programs?

IsraAID’s Rescue Teams Helping In Flooded Houston



A team of volunteers from an Israeli aid group were making their way to Texas on Tuesday, seeking to provide emergency assistance to relief efforts as a massive storm pummeled the city with severe flooding.

Seven members of the IsraAID non-governmental organization flew to Houston, where they will join three other members of the group who were already in the United States when Hurricane Harvey brought torrential downpours over the weekend, flooding homes and causing widespread damage. HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF & ASSISTANCE EFFORTS THROUGH JEWISH COMMUNITY AGENCIES -YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are all watching with concern the unfolding tragedy of Hurricane Harvey. The immediate focus is on saving lives. If you are able to help, please give to the  JFNA Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and/or  Nechama . All of these organizations are working on search and rescue and to provide shelter, clothing, medications and food to those who need it. And the need is great.

JEWISH SPIRITUALITY WORKSHOP: Finding our Way into Prayer for the High Holy Days and Beyond, Thursday, September 7 & 14 at 12:30pm . Join Rabbi Danielle Upbin as she leads a two-part series in preparation for the High Holy Days.

SATURDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 16
Selichot: An Evening of Conversation, Introspection and Renewal
Our program will begin at 8 pm in the Peltz social hall with refreshments and Havdallah, followed by a study session with Rabbis Weizman and Upbin entitled: “The Art of Teshuvah in an Unforgiving Age”. This session will explore the process of Teshuvah as a personal and communal device from the Bible to today. We will focus on Judaic material as well as historical and current events. The evening will culminate in a New Year’s ritual in the CBS Biblical Garden followed by a contemplative musical Selichot service.
