TOASTNAAAPSTER FEBRUARY MEETING
Monday, February 23, 2015 @ 6:30-7:30 pm
Jenner & Block
919 Third Avenue, 38th floor
Last month, ToastNAAAPsters held its very first meeting that was well-attended by NAAAP-NY members and friends. This demonstration meeting was led by seasoned Toastmasters and volunteers from NAAAP-NY. The guest speaker, Brian Robinson (the author of "How to Meet Women on the Subway"), gave a captivating speech centered around his book. He also provided a critique on the icebreaker speech made by our very own Vincent Chin.
Whether you're interested to learn more or eager to start improving your speaking skills, please join the ToastNAAAPsters for its second meeting next Monday! Every meeting has several roles that are filled by members. After people commit to roles, they will be assisted in their preparation for the meeting. Below are the roles to be filled:
- Toastmaster (1 person): Meeting Facilitator
- Speakers (3 people): Give a 5-7 minute speech about yourself. Note: Everyone will do this speech at some point within the first couple meetings.
- Evaluation Team (6 people): Provides feedback to speakers. For those that were not at the first meeting, but would like to participate, sign up for this group.
- Table Topics (1 person): Lead the impromptu speeches section of the meeting
Questions? Contact Gary Chiang.
For those unfamiliar with ToastNAAAPsters, it is a chapter of Toastmasters International recently created by NAAAP-NY. With an upgraded membership fee, members will be able to partake in monthly Toastmaster International meetings, and gain valuable support and a positive learning environment which will empower members to practice and improve key communication skills amongst peers. NAAAP-NY recognizes the importance of developing public speaking and communication skills as a critical step on the road to leadership and professional development, and hopes that you will join us on this journey!
