Smokin' Fish Screening in New Mexico

Smokin' Fish will be screening at the 11th Annual Native Cinema Showcase on Sunday, August 21 at the Cultural Center, New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The screening will be held at 4 p.m.

About Smokin' Fish:

Cory Mann (Tlingit) is a quirky businessman hustling to make a dollar in Juneau, Alaska. He gets hungry for smoked salmon--and decides to spend a summer smoking fish at a family's traditional fish camp. The unusual story of his life and the untold history of his people interweave with the process of preparing traditional food as he struggles to pay his bills and keep his business afloat.

Recent Awards:

A BIG congrats goes out to Cory Mann, Luke Griswold-Tergis and the entire crew of Smokin' Fish because the film just won the Best Documentary Award from Montreal's Séquences Magazine.

My Kickstarter Campaign: A Blog by Julianna Brannum

Thank you to our fans & viewers for your support!

$15,000. That was the magic number I had come up with. My documentary, LaDonna Harris: Indian 101 had come to a complete hault when my funds dried-up and I needed to get it finished. I estimated that I needed $50,000 to deliver the final cut to submit for Public Television, but it seemed impossible to try to raise that amount in 30 days, so I decided to go for a more reasonable $15,000. I saw the success my other filmmaker friends had with their fundraising campaigns on Kickstarter.com and thought I'd go for it. Here's how it all went down...
