NAPT's Executive Director heads to Park City, Utah, for the Sundance Film Festival

NAPT's Executive Director Shirley K. Sneve (Rosebud Sioux) is heading to Park City, Utah, for the Sundance Film Festival. One of the most intense and prestigous film festivals for media makers, Sundance is sure to bring filmmakers and film goers alike to this one-of-a-kind event. During the Festival, one of NAPT's upcoming film offerings, GRAB will be taking the stage for multiple screenings.

2011 Producers Institute for New Media Technologies in San Francisco--Indigenous Science
Deadline: January 17

Since 2007, the Producers Institute has been connecting documentary filmmakers to emerging technologies, creating new participatory platforms and transmedia experiences that have become integral tools for social change movements on the ground. These include mobile data/story collection interfaces to combat human rights abuses and public health crises, geo-located story maps for environmental justice, video games to raise awareness about Iraqi refugees and human trafficking, augmented reality experiences on National Park land, national social action networks for communities fighting hate crimes, and much more.

Creative Native Language Digital Storytelling Workshop

Indigenious Language InstituteTake part in one of several four-day training workshops that will teach computer and multimedia technology skills to aid you in creating short, audiovisual stories in Native languages using the digital storytelling template. Instructors will provide hands-on training on photo/graphic software, movie editing software (MovieMaker), audio software, media players, scanning technology and more.

 

With the first date set for Jan. 24-27 and limited seating, asseptance is based on a first come, first serve basis, so register today!

Sound Exchange's Get Paid When You Get Played
If you are a featured recording artist or a sound recording copyright owner (SRCO), producer or creative contributor, you may have earned digital performance royalties for the use of sound recordings you own or on which you performed. Artists and SRCOs should register with SoundExchange as soon as possible, even if you're a member of another performance rights organization--as only SoundExchange has been entrusted by the Copyright Royalty Board as the sole entity in the United States to collect and distribute these digital performance royalties.

Film Independent's Director's Close-Up

This five-part series begins February 3 and runs through March 3. Film Independent's Directors Close-Up lets you hear, first-hand, from influential and prolific film directors, whose originality, ingenuity and talent have set them apart as the leaders in their craft. This unique series gives you a close-up look at the art of directing like never before. You won't hear about making deals, the race for awards or the competition at the box office. Indigenious Language InstituteExperience one of several four-day training workshops that teaches computer and multimedia technology skills to create materials in print in the Native languages such as: storybooks, flash cards, brochures, calendars, newsletters, business cards, etc. Instructors provide hands on training on universal font encodings, Microsoft Publisher, Scanning technology, audio recording/editing and more.
