JANUARY DINNER WELCOMED THE NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2017

On Thursday, J anuary 13 NARI installed the new board of directors. The 2017 President, Jim Macholz, thanked 2016 president Doug King and the 2016 board for their service. He gave Doug thanks for his hard work with national and in the work force development program in local schools. 

Jim thanked our National President, Fred Ulreich for taking time out of his busy schedule to be with the chapter for the board installation. With that said Jim welcomed 2017 as a year that looks to be bright for positioning all our businesses to be more successful than ever...  LEARN MORE

Pinellas County Commission: Reform construction licensing board and give us control

CLEARWATER - Calls to reform the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board grew louder on Tuesday. The Pinellas County Commission said the board that oversees the county's contractors should be brought under its control. Some of the public officials who serve on the agency's governing board agreed. In the meantime, Pinellas County Attorney Jim Bennett said he'll dedicate two of his attorneys to conducting a top-to-bottom review of the licensing board after a Tampa Bay Times investigation detailed the agency's fast and loose approach to disciplining contractors.  LEARN MORE

Nelson Construction and Renovations is a family business with more than a decade of experience building and remodeling homes and commercial properties all over the Tampa Bay area founded in 2006. They have been a member of NARI Tampa Bay for over 3 years and won a CotY award in 2014.

In recent months they have expanded their design department to provide stellar design work.  Led by General Contractor Greg Nelson and his wife Dominique Nelson, the Clearwater-based company has spent many years perfecting their system into an organized, service-oriented approach. Their projects have included award-winning historic restorations, whole home remodels, tear-downs and new-builds, large home additions, and custom new-builds. $2,500 Award to Dunedin Academy of ARC

On Saturday, January 27, 2017, the Florida Suncoast Chapter of ICC and BOAF [aka "The Florida Central West Coast Chapter of the International Code Council, Inc. and the Building Officials Association of Florida, Inc."] gave the 2016 Community Service Award for a Non-Profit Group in the amount of $2,500.00 to the Academy of Architecture, Robotics & Construction at Dunedin High School.

This will support the Construction & Architectural Drafting programs. Jim Ford, the Chief Building Official for the City of Seminole, presented the check at the Suncoast Annual Banquet to Mike Awe, Department Chair of the Academy, Cathy Svercl, Architect and Chair of the Academy's Advisory Board [and a NARI member], and three students, Nicco Guarascio, Nick Miller, and Megan Hanna.
AZEK unveils new 3D Deck Designer Tool

AZEK Building Products has launched a new Deck Designer Tool with enhanced visualization capabilities. Powered by Marxent's 3 D platform for products and spaces, VisualCommerce, the Deck Designer helps users create, revise and save as many interactive designs as they want before making a final purchase decision.

The app also provides an extensive array of design options to play with, view-able in a variety of 3 D environments. NARI members across the country are gearing up for the second Annual NARI Fly-In and Lobby Day in the nation's capital. Taking place from Tuesday evening, March 14th through Wednesday evening, March 15th, NARI members will have the opportunity to interact with their Congressional representatives and staff.  

The event will kick off with a reception on Tuesday evening, followed by a private tour of the Capitol by former Members of Congress. Wednesday, NARI members will get to hear from a number of Congressional representatives and then will spend the afternoon visiting with their Congressional delegations. REGISTER HERE
