KAYLEEN McCABE COMING TO PINELLAS COUNTY THIS WEEK...

J anuary 13 NARI Tampa Bay will launch our 2017 program to schools in Pinellas County to help raise awareness of support for the real world experience gained from an apprenticeship. The program provides a more direct path to life and career opportunities. NARI knows that trades that require apprentices are in demand. The Department of Labor is in agreement and this is also a focus for the new administration.

Kayleen McCabe from DIY Network's Rescue Renovation shares her passion for remodeling and her success learning professional skills hands on with a presentation to local youngsters at three schools in the county. Members of the NARI Tampa Bay Board of Directors will join Kayleen on Friday to share their success as business owners and leaders in the remodeling industry in Tampa Bay.  Call our office if you wish to join the events.

Trump's Infrastructure Plan Could Collide with the U.S. Skilled Labor Shortage

President-elect Donald Trump has said that he'd like to rebuild the nation's roads, bridges, ports, and complete other public works projects with a $1 trillion infrastructure investment plan. But aside from getting approval from Congress, another hurdle may be finding skilled laborers to get the work done.

Richard Cowan reports for Reuters that contractors have already reported tight labor conditions in the South, Midwest and Southwest. And the National Association of Home Builders estimated this year that there were around 200,000 unfilled construction jobs in the U.S.  LEARN MORE

Stanley Black & Decker to buy Craftsman

Sears Holdings plans to sell its Craftsman brand to tool giant Stanley Black & Decker for $550 million cash up front, $250 million at the end of year three, plus various annual payments.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Sears said the move is part of an effort to stabilize its operating performance. The struggling retailer also intends to close an additional 150 non-profitable stores - 109 of them under the Kmart banner.
