NASCA Launches Two Inaugural Award Programs 

 

LEXINGTON, Ky., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 - The National Association of State Chief Administrators (NASCA), an association dedicated to state chief administrators, launched two inaugural award programs; Innovations in State Government Awards and National Walton Leadership Award. These award programs will provide for some well-deserved appreciation and recognition for state leaders and state administration best practices.

The Innovations in State Government Awards were established to recognize outstanding state administration department's programs that exemplify best practices and initiatives. NASCA will award one state department in each of the following categories;

* General Services (procurement, fleet, mail, printing, supplies, surplus)
* Infrastructure (facilities, construction, information technology, telecommunication)
* Financial Management (risk management, accounting, state budget, state insurance, audit)
* Personnel (human resources, professional development training)

Submissions will be accepted from state government administration departments starting July 7 through 12 midnight on July 28.

The National Walton Leadership Award was created to honor state chief administrators (or equivalent) for their passion, outstanding service, leadership and commitment to state government. This peer-to-peer recognition award was established to honor Ray Walton for his service and dedication to state government and to NASCA.

Nominations will be accepted online from August 13 through August 27 by current State Chief Administrators.

NASCA will present the awards for both programs during the 2015 Institute on Management and Leadership in Denver, Co October 7-9.
