NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Preview: New Smyrna Speedway
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (February 15, 2017)  - A new season is beginning and MDM Motorsports is headed to New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway armed with three of the sports rising stars: Harrison Burton, Sheldon Creed, and Vinnie Miller.

Last season, MDM Motorsports' full-time No. 40 entry driven by Kyle Benjamin finished second in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) points while scoring three wins at Iowa Speedway, Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway, and Dover (Del.) International Speedway, along with nine top-five  and 11 top-10 finishes. The team's second entry was driven to victory lane by Spencer Davis at Dominion Raceway in Woodford, Va., and by Corey LaJoie at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Harrison Burton is the only MDM Motorsports driver with previous NKNPSE race experience at New Smyrna Speedway, however all three drivers tested at the track last week.

Harrison Burton, driver of the DEX Imaging No. 12... Burton enters his second full-time NKNPSE season. Last year, Burton finished seventh in the series standings with one top-five and five top-10 finishes, as well as  one pole at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Already a winner in 2017 with a big victory in the Speedfest 200 at Crisp Motorsports Park in Cordele, Ga., earlier this month, Burton is ready to make a splash this season. He finished eighth in last year's Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna Speedway.

Burton on New Smyrna Speedway: "I'm looking forward to getting the new season going with MDM Motorsports. The guys have worked hard to get the cars ready to go. I haven't been this excited to start a season in a long time."

Sheldon Creed, driver of the A.M. Ortega Construction No. 40... With a resume that boasts an X-Games Gold Medal, a Formula Off-Road championship, and a Dakar Rally start, Creed will make his NKNPSE debut at New Smyrna Speedway. Like his teammates, it won't be his first time racing at the Florida track. Creed has competed in 13 late model races at the speedway, scoring four top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 2014 and 2015. While 2017 will mark Creed's first year of full-time NKNPSE competition, he has made starts in both the ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). He made his NCWTS debut at Eldora (Ohio) Speedway last July, scoring a 16 th-place finish.

Creed on New Smyrna Speedway: "I'm super stoked to get the season started at New Smyrna this weekend. In a lot of ways, it feels like I'm starting my racing career over again with my focus fully on asphalt racing now, and I think my new team, MDM Motorsports, will give me a great chance to be successful. We got to test our K&N car at New Smyrna Speedway last week, and my crew chief Doug Howe and the whole crew worked really hard to get me comfortable and up to speed, so we can go into next weekend with some confidence. We've got some new partners coming on board for the season, so I hope we can start with a great finish at New Smyrna."

Vinnie Miller, driver of the Master Mfg., Inc No. 41... Miller will make his NKNPSE debut in Sunday's Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna Speedway. Although new to NKNPSE competition, the 19-year-old Michigan native is familiar with New Smyrna Speedway. He competed in six late model events there during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing last season. Miller has spent his entire career on pavement, a winner at his home track, Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Mich.,, he moved south to increase  his driving opportunities. In 2016, Miller earned his first template late model win at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Va., behind the wheel of his family owned late model.

Miller on New Smyrna Speedway: "I'm looking forward to racing the No. 41 Master Mfg., Inc. Toyota Camry this weekend in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna.  The MDM Motorsports team tested last week and after only two days of testing I already felt really comfortable with my team. Jamie (Jones) and the guys on the crew have an awesome car for the race.  I'm excited to make my K&N Series debut and hopefully I will have a solid race for the team and our sponsor."

The NKNPSE season begins on Sunday, February 19 at 7:30p.m. ET, with the running of the Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna Speedway. The 150-lap race will be televised on NBC Sports Network Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10pm, ET.
