More than 75,500 women working at
AT&T
are helping to transform the way we connect with our world. These women are executives, engineers, marketers, sales people, finance leaders, attorneys and most importantly - they are mentors for the next generation of female leaders.
Women at AT&T are helping lead innovation and technology advances in the communications field.
As of December 31, 2015:
- 33% of AT&T employees are women.
- 36% of AT&T managers were women and we have 151 senior leaders who are women.
- More than 1,100 women inventors are named on AT&T patents and more than 4,900 patents have been filed by AT&T women.
Additionally, over the past 5 years, AT&T contributed nearly $20 million to support women through corporate, employee and AT&T Foundation giving. In 2015 alone, AT&T donated over $7.5 million to organizations helping further opportunity for women and girls.

OPTIMISM-HOPE-STRONGER TOGETHER requires YOU!
We have completed the first month of a New Year and records are already being set. From the inauguration of a new president, to women's marches around the globe, to historic jumps in the stock market, 2017 is here!! On January 20th, CNN money reported, "... the U.S. market has gained $1.4 trillion in value since the election according to S&P Dow Jones Indices". Another article reported that the consistent jump in the stock market is evidence of how OPTIMISTIC investors are about the prospects of the US economy.
The women's March, according to a U. S. A. Today report, attracted 2.6 million marchers across 50 states and 32 countries. As speakers called for a revolution, women who had never participated in a demonstration before proclaimed, "I feel POWERFUL and HOPEFUL." One speaker reminded marchers to be bold and stand up for YOUR communities. Hilary Clinton tweeted, "I truly believe we're always STRONGER TOGETHER."
In the presidential inaugural address, President Trump shared, "Together, we will determine the course of America. Today, we are transferring power from Washington DC back to YOU the American people." President Trump also noted, "This moment belongs to YOU. What matters is not what party controls YOUR government, but whether OUR government is controlled by the people."
Women business owners in California and NAWBO members throughout our state, as your statewide president of a non-partisan organization, I am committed to some take-a-ways from these historic times:
-- Optimism - look for the positive and strategic opportunities that are unfolding in 2017 for your business -- Powerful - you are powerful and let no one tell you differently -- HOPEFUL - believe your possibilities extend beyond the human realm -- STRONGER TOGETHER -- NAWBO represents the most powerful and influential network of women leaders in business around the globe - together, WE are stronger -- YOU - You make the difference in your community, in your region, in your state, in your nation and in your world and we need YOU.
I look forward to the revolution that your Public Policy Directors will create and continue as we try and change the face on corporate boards and streamline the government contracting process. As our President has stated, take the helm of your government by making your voice count, and make sure YOU are engaged in the process.
I hope your calendar is marked, your hotel is booked and your registration is paid for the 2017 Propel Your Business Conference in Sacramento, May 7-9, 2017. You will meet women leaders who are making the U.S. and California economy tick and they have the optimism for business that investors have about the stock market. You will enhance your personal portfolio and appreciate your leadership assets by attending the conference. We will voice why women business leaders require a seat at the table since we are Stronger Together!!
One month into 2017, women business leaders, I believe in YOU and your collective genius to make our communities and one another better. Looking forward to Propelling our businesses together!
Sincere Commitment to Propel,
Hilda Kennedy, NAWBO-CA President

Five NAWBO Chapters participate at the first annual Relationship Accelerator!
Thanks to the Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire, and the
new Central Coastal chapters for participating in the San Diego chapter's first Relationship Accelerator Event!
"Powerful." "Re-energized." "I got my chops back!" were just a few of the quotes from the day. Corporate Alliance, an amazing relationship developing networking group, facilitated our day of deep diving into all facets of our lives as women business owners. In between exercises designed to peel back our veneers and expose our authentic selves, we worked on our 2017 goals and ways to achieve them.
San Diego Chapter Administrator, Helna Correll of SD Site Pros, did an outstanding job! The event had nearly 100% Board Of Director participation; special thanks to Hilda who donated her seat to a local college student - a great nod to the Millennials!
