THE NATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION
APPLAUDS THE SENATE'S CONFIRMATION OF TONY WEST
The National Bar Association applauds the Senate's overwhelming 98-1 confirmation vote of Tony West as Associate Attorney General, the number three position at the Justice Department. During his time at the Department of Justice, West distinguished himself in this position in an acting capacity for over a year and was previously previously been confirmed by the Senate to be the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division.
"Tony West is a leader and friend within the National Bar Association community. As Associate Attorney General, we look forward to working with him as he carries out his duties," stated President John E. Page. "We thank the Senate for confirming West and urge them to work across the aisle in confirming White House nominees in an expeditious manner."
The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation's oldest and largest national network of predominantly African American attorneys and judges. It represents approximately 44,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students and has over 80 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and around the world.
