NBMBAA KY Chapter Meeting

Join NBMBAA KY for our next meeting Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 6:00pm at the The Center for Women and Families 927 S. 2nd Street, Louisville. Our guest speaker will be Marta M. Miranda, President/CEO for The Center .
Ms. Miranda has over 35 of experience in organizational and clinical social work practice, her career focus has been the identification, prevention, treatment and eradication of sexual assault and intimate partner abuse. Her clinical expertise is in mental health and substance abuse and she maintained a private clinical and consulting practice for 25 years. Marta has taught, published and consulted on the intersections of gender, race, class and sexuality. Before becoming the president and CEO of The Center for Women and Families, she was an associate professor of Social Work at EKU for 17 years and also served as the Director of Women and Gender Studies and the Dean of Multicultural Student Affairs
She has been appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Women by Governor Steve Beashear, and was awarded 2009 Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAMy) Award from the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs for her long-term commitment and work to eradicate sexual assault. She also selected by The National Health Law Practice, which evaluates programs for underserved populations across the country, to receive a National Best Practice Program Development Award for design and implementation of the EEO Language Access Section of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Families.
Ms Miranda also is part owner of Oliva Bella, importer of organic hand harvested extra virgin artisanal oils from Italy. She is a published poet and a member of the Afralician Poets.
