HBR Update for September 2017!

With September now beginning, Open Enrollment is right around the corner(September 30 th through October 31 st ) and we wanted to provide you with some updates.
 
We welcome Linda Forsberg as the State Benefits Manager for the NCFlex Program. She comes to us from the NC State Health Plan and with experience in Healthcare industry with the private sector.
 
Stephanie McFadden also joins NCFlex from the Office of State Controller and Sarah West from the Administrative Office of the Courts. You may meet them at upcoming TTT sessions or Benefit Fairs. 
 
2018 Plan Items and Reminders (which can be found on page 1 of the 2018 NCFlex Enrollment Guide):
  • New Accident Plan
  • Voya administers this plan beginning 1/1/2018
  • Pays Benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from an accident
  • Helps offset medical deductibles, copays and coinsurance
  • Health Care FSA
  • Annual contribution limit increased to $2,600
  • New rollover feature to replace the 2.5 month grace period
  • Rollover up to $500 of unused funds into the new plan year, minimum $25
  • Visit FSAStore.com for FSA eligible health products
  • Dependent Day Care FSA
  • Starting in 2018, you can use the NCFlex Convenience Card to pay for eligible dependent day care expenses, up to the balance in your DDCFSA account
  • Dental
  • Lower rates on the High Option Dental
  • Reminder of the annual maximum $5,000 on high option
  • Vision
  • Offering EyeMed with new and larger provider network
  • Lower rates on Basic and Enhanced plans
  • Enhanced Plan will have higher frame allowance ($200) and contact lens allowance ($175)
  • Core Wellness Vision option is still offered
  • Critical Illness
  • No EOI is required to enroll
  • You can elect $15,000 or $25,000 in coverage
  • Cancer
  • This year only, no EOI required to enroll (unless you have a lapse in coverage)
  • Group Term Life
  • During annual enrollment increase by $20,000, no health questions asked (up to the guaranteed issue amount)
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • Core AD&D is still offered
  • Tricare Supplement for Military
  • Will continue to offer

HBR Vendor Contacts:
We will have an updated vendor contact list at the upcoming trainings, however, please find those that have or will be updating below. These vendor contacts are for your use and dedicated to NCFlex as an HBR contact. P lease do not give vendor contacts or NCFlex staff contact information out to employee s. Employees that have questions should contact the Benefitfocus eligibility and enrollment customer service center at 855-859-0966.
 
For Critical Illness and Cancer, Allstate's contact has changed from Samantha Lewis to Kesha Barnes and the secondary contact remains Carrie Hirst. Kesha's contact information is: Lakesha.Barnes@allstate.com , (904)992-5942. 
 
For Vision, your contact for EyeMed effective 1/1/2018 will be Sherry Bowling, sbowling@eyemed.com , (513)765-3933. 
 
Train the Trainer Sessions
Don’t forget to register for one of the NCFlex Train the Trainer Sessions for HBRs and Benefit Staff ( Register Here ). They will start at 9:00 am and end at 1:00 pm (if you need to change sessions, please register for the new session and send an e-mail to Kara.F.Rouse@nc.gov  and Robert.Kelley@nc.gov and indicate the session you wish to withdraw from). Reminder e-mails will be sent with detailed information a few days before the session.
