An Important Message for NC Health Benefit Representatives
March 2018
NCFlex Cancer Plan Participants
Don't forget about the Cancer Screening Benefit which pays a benefit for each covered insured annually for taking certain tests. It's always good to remind our employees with this benefit that they can go back plan years to file also.

Remind employees of FSA deadlines

Participants of the Health Care and Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Accounts have until March 15th, 2018 to use their money from 2017 and until April 30th, 2018 to submit 2017 claims for anything incurred through March 15th.

At this time there is approximately 4.16 million dollars in unused FSA funds remaining. Almost 2 million of that comes from participants who haven't filed a single claim for their 2017 funds.

Claims can be uploaded online at www.padmin.com/ncflex (see How to Upload Your FSA Claim for more details) or a claim form can be completed and faxed or mailed (contact information is on the form).

*Be on the lookout for an email from the NCFlex team today or Monday with a list of employees at your location with remaining balances*
Communication Material

The 8 page benefit summary has been updated and can be found at ncflex.org . At this time we do not have printed copies but once we do, we will send out a link for orders.

Along with our Spanish version, we also have the 2 pager summary available in Burmese and Karen now which will be posted on ncflex.org in the guide section.
Monthly Report to P&A

Payroll units, please be reminded that you should be sending monthly deduction reports to P&A, this ensures employees FSA account balance is accurate. If you have questions about this report, where to send, or what information is needed, please contact Jennifer Nolan at [email protected] or 1-800-688-2611.
ID Cards - who, what, where?

Because the question, "Am I supposed to be getting ID cards or information from this company for my NCFlex coverage?" comes up a lot after annual enrollment and with new hires, here is some information that may help.

  • Flexible Spending Accounts - A convenience card is mailed to first time users (for those that have both HCFSA and DDFSA, only 1 card is issued) and only re-issued if reported lost or stolen, or once it expires after 3 years (Valid Thru date is listed on the card). Additional cards can be requested by logging onto www.padmin.com/ncflex or by calling 1-866-916-3475. Additionally, a claims kit is mailed yearly to participants and can also be found in the FSA section of ncflex.org.
  • Dental - Cards are no longer issued for participants but can be printed after logging onto mybenefits.metlife.com. A generic card can also be found in the dental section of ncflex.org. ID Cards are not required to visit a dentist.
  • Vision - Cards are mailed to new participants. Additional cards can be found by logging onto www.eyemedvision.com/NCFlex or by calling 1-866-248-1939. ID cards are not required to visit an eye doctor.
  • Accident, AD&D, and Group Term Life - No mailings for these plans, but certificates and other information can be found in each plan's section of ncflex.org. Post cards may be mailed in the future with a brief description of where to get more info. Claims for these plans can be filed by calling 1-877-464-5111. ID Cards are not provided for these plans and are not required.
  • Cancer and Critical Illness - Welcome letters are mailed to new participants and to anyone who makes a change to their coverage during annual enrollment. Certificates, claims forms, and other information about these plans can be found at ncflex.org. Allstate also has a portal where you can view your personal coverage and claim information: Login to your account. ID Cards are not provided for these plans and are not required.
Thank you for participating in our HBR Survey!

Recently we sent out a survey for you to complete in regards to the NCFlex Enrollment Guide and other enrollment material. We had 93 responses and a lot of useful information was received.

The majority of you that responded utilize both our guide and our 8 pager for new hires. The majority of you believe that the amount of information in our guide works and would not like to see more or less. Also, the majority of you believe the guide is sufficient for open enrollment but there is still a large group of you that would like to see a separate communication that's more consolidated for OE. Lastly, you would like to see a consolidated rate sheet, and some other materials were suggested.

All of the information received is being used to try and improve our communications and better serve you and the employees you serve. Although the guide will still have the same amount of information, we are working on making that information clearer and easier to read. We will also be working on other materials for your distribution. We thank you again for your participation!
