Your Voice...Your Benefits
Dear Members,

You are NCISS!

NCISS is unique in its mission - to advocate for all professional investigators and security officers and agencies to further our profession - to keep us in business with the resources we need.  NCISS does this by staying alert to actions that may have a positive or negative impact on our professions, and partnering with state associations to offer our assistance at the local level.  It truly is a partnership of our members and state associations - Together We're Better!

For over 40 years NCISS has been, and continues to be, the most influential voice and legislative advocate for the Security and Private Investigation professions in the United States of America.

As the largest national association of investigative and security professionals, your reach and influence is more than your membership - it is the combined voices your association and colleagues.  As many members are part of other state, national and international associations with varying benefits, at NCISS we offer unique benefits - from legislative advocacy and alerts to multi-association integral networking.  Your NCISS membership extends to tens of thousands of friends and colleagues in the investigation and security professions.

The most important benefit you may realize by being a member - and encouraging others to join - is advocating for the rights  and privileges of your profession.  From friendships to guidance, and grassroots advocacy to national and global assistance, NCISS works for, and counts on, you.

Legislative Alerts and News
The most important function of NCISS is to monitor and direct federal legislation. But we also play an important role in acting as a conduit for state legislative information. Through joint efforts and other national and state associations of related industries, our advocates keep a finger on bills which affect our professions.

Often, a law passed in a trend setting state will be adopted almost verbatim by other states wishing to follow it. If an unfavorable law is enacted in one state, NCISS alerts other state associations who can take action to keep the problem from spreading. A number of important position papers have already been authored on key issues such as privacy, police moonlighting, reciprocity and use of private contractors over hiring more government employees.

NCISS officers and members are frequently called upon to testify at Congressional hearings giving our industry's viewpoint. Hit The Hill - NCISS members from across the country join together in Washington to meet with their Senators, Representatives and staff so they can be informed about our concerns and viewpoints. Congress appreciates our input in assisting them with promulgating sound legislation and regulations.

As soon as our legislative committee and advocate see an issue of concern to the investigative and security professions, a special Legislative Alert is sent via email to all members and distributed through special networking within state associations, as well as nationally and internationally.  In addition, our legislative advocate sends a monthly summary of legislation and regulations they are watching on behalf of NCISS members.

- These two important events have been combined to further the mission of NCISS is legislative advocacy at the federal level for members.

Hit the Hill is one of the most important, and effective, events for members to share with Senators and Representatives what most impacts our professions.  Each spring NCISS leaders and members meet in Washington, DC to visit with our elected Senators and Representatives in Congress.  NCISS also arranges special functions to meet and greet these elected officials, and will also be holding a luncheon inside the Capitol building.

The Annual Meeting includes the board meeting, annual membership meeting, board elections, seminars, and closing with gala banquet with swearing in of officers and presentation of awards.

The 42 nd 2018 Annual Meeting / Hit the Hill will be held in March. Speakers are lined up and plans being finalized. Watch for details beginning in the next Your Advocate and The eAdvocate.
