Mural Displayed in US Capitol Rotunda
The mural created last school year by students in Dr. Callaghan's and Ms. Medoff's classes as part of the Jesse Lewis Foundation/Choose Love Movement social and emotional learning program went on display this week in the US Capitol Rotunda. Senator Richard Blumental arranged for the murals to be displayed in Washington, D.C. Notre Dame's mural can be seen at the top of the picture below (with LO above the VE in the second panel from the left).

The murals included in this display reflect some of the lessons that partner schools have learned from the program - love, compassion and forgiveness. The purpose of this display is to share some of the success stories of the Choose Love Enrichment programs in Connecticut schools, to educate the general public on the benefits of social and emotional learning, and highlight the importance of including social and emotional learning program funding in education legislation.

Notre Dame presented the mural to Scarlett Lewis, the mother of Jesse Lewis, who died in the tragedy at Sandy Hook in 2012, when she spoke to our students in September.
