Alumn Publishes Travel Book
Lisa Wisniewski Voegle '88, has recently published a travel reference guide, FOOD & FOLKLORE: A YEAR OF ITALIAN FESTIVALS. The book provides a brief summary of fun facts about each region of Italy, a focus festival for each region and lists 15-30 recommended festivals as well as "how-to" tips for finding them.
She will be at the Fairfield University Bookstore on the Post Road in Fairfield on Saturday, October 1st from 4-6 pm for an author "meet and greet" and book signing. Currently she writes a weekly blog

. Currently Lisa resides in Snowmass Village, Colorado just outside of Aspen. This is a first in a series of festival reference travel guides and she is currently working on her second installment (SPAIN) with a planned release of Spring 2017.
ND Dance Classes Visit SHU for a Hop Hop Master Class
On Tuesday, September 20, students from ND Dance classes were invited
to take a Hip Hop Master Class with Kim Elliott at Sacred Heart
University where Ms. Hong is an adjunct professor. Ms. Elliott is an
adjunct professor at New York University and Marymount Manhattan
College. Students learned about the roots of Hip Hop culture,
musicality, confidence building, freestyling, popping, and whacking.

College Essay Workshop - October 19th
Members of the English Department will be available to help seniors with their college essays on
(Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Guidance Testing Day). Students will be able to get help wherever they are in the process. There will be workshop rooms for brainstorming/selecting a topic, revision/feedback, and editing. A sign up sheet will be in room 207.

Guidance Department Update
Attention Senior Parents
The Guidance Office has mailed home letters to senior parents regarding a college planning and application process meeting. The meeting will be held on Monday, September 26
at 7:00p.m. in the Martire Theatre, which is located in the School of Business (on the corner of Park Ave. and Jefferson St.). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Guidance Office at 203-374-2618.
College Rep Visits
Visits from college representatives have begun. Seniors should look on Naviance for the full schedule. Seniors must sign up on Naviance to visit with a college representative. Once signed up, please stop by the Guidance Office at least two days prior to get a pass for that day. No student will be allowed to leave homeroom without a pass. All visits will be at 8:00 a.m. in Room 205.

Upcoming PSAT Testing

2016 Congressional App Challenge
The 2016 Congressional App Challenge is now open. Apps must be submitted before the deadline on November 2nd at 12:00 pm.
High School students are eligible to participate in the challenge. Students can sign up as individuals or in a team of up to four. All apps will be presented before a panel of judges for consideration. Winners will be honored by their Member of Congress and have their apps featured on a display in the Capitol Building, as well as on the
Congressional App Challenge website

Young Artist Scholarship Awards for Playwriting
The Palace in Stamford is pleased to announce the third annual Young Artist Scholarship Awards for Playwriting. The 2017 scholarships will be awarded to three high school students for their writing of an original 15 minute, one act play. The three winning plays will be have a stage reading of their play at the Palace with professional New York actors. Lancer Week In Review
Boys' and Girls' Cross Country competed this past week in Newtown and ran very well. Top finishers for ND were Jeremy Tierney '18 and Lucy Grant '18.
Football picked up their first win of the season last week in an exciting game against Barlow by a score of 20-13. Leading the way for the Lancers was
Micah Brantley '18 who was 13-19, 125 yards and threw for two touchdowns and
Mike Bevino '17 who had 8 receptions for 75 yds and two touchdowns.
Taevion Jackson '20 had 18 rushes for 120 yds and one touchdown.
Clyde Auba '18 made ten tackles in the win. Football will be in action again on Saturday, September 24 at 1pm at ND vs. Masuk.

Lancer Football Scholarship Golf Outing in Memory of Jerry McCloat
The Notre Dame Fairfield Lancer Football Scholarship Golf Outing in memory of Jerry McCloat will take place on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at The Connecticut Golf Club in Easton.
