New England Innovates: Preparing the Innovation Economy Workforce

The second event in The New England Council's "New England Innovates" series has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Boston. "New England Innovates: Preparing the Innovation Economy Workforce" will explore the critical role that our region's institutions of higher education play in preparing the next generation innovation economy workforce.
Andrea Cox of GE Aviation will deliver opening remarks, highlighting the needs of the region's innovation economy employers and the importance of partnerships between employers and the higher education community. Following Cox's remarks, a panel of leaders representing NEC member colleges and universities will discuss the importance of collaboration between colleges and universities and the business community to best develop the region's talent pipeline. Panelists include:

- Daniel Hewett, Executive Director for Research and Partnered Projects, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)

Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore is an educational symposium aimed at helping businesses and organizations tackle evolving cyber threats. The symposium will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the

Technology Committee Briefing on GOP Innovation Agenda
|
Members of the NEC Technology Committee participated in a conference call with a senior staff member to Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), who briefed them on the
Senate Republican High Tech Task Force's Innovation Agenda for the 115th Congress. Chris Bates, Senior Counsel to Sen. Hatch, who chairs the task force, provided an overview of some of the key elements of the agenda, including proposals related to high-skilled immigration, STEM education, intellectual property, data security, and cybersecurity, and answered members questions about the agenda.
