Over 200 NEC Members Gather in Washington, DC, for Annual Spring Event
|
Over 200 NEC members from all six New England states participated in The New England Council's Annual Spring Event in Washington, DC, on May 3 & 4, 2017.
We kicked off the Annual Spring Event on Wednesday, May 3, with a Federal Policy Briefing at the historic Willard Intercontinental Hotel. Members heard from leaders from several key federal agencies, including
Director Richard Cordray of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, U
nder Secretary Chip Fulghum of the Department of Homeland Security,
Director France Cordova of the National Science Foundation, and
Commissioner Michael O'Rielly of the Federal Communications Commission. That evening, members gathered in the stately Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building for our annual Capitol Hill Reception, which was well attended by members of the New England delegation and their staffs.
On Thursday, May 4, we were pleased to welcome several members of Congress at a Congressional Breakfast at the Charlie Palmer Restaurant at the foot of Capitol Hill. NEC members heard from Representatives
Peter King (R-NY) and
Elizabeth Esty (D-CT), as well as Chairman
Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Ranking Member
Richard Neal (D-MA) of the House Ways & Means Committee. Following the conclusion of the Congressional Breakfast on Thursday, members participated in a variety other small group meetings with Congressional offices and other federal policy leaders.

Recent Report Details Industry's Regional Impact
|
The Council will present its recent financial services industry report at an event on June 29, 2017, in Concord, New Hampshire. The event is co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Bankers Association, a Council member. "The New England Financial Services Industry: Around the Corner and Around the World," demonstrates the importance of this major sector to quality of life and employment in the region. Following a presentation of the report's findings, a panel of New England Council members will discuss the status and future of the financial services industry in the Granite State.
