COMING SEPTEMBER 12  TO
PET'S BEST FRIEND
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy®  What is it?
An exciting new incentive program to get you and your puppy off to a good start! A key component of the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is a responsible owner. Training classes will teach you how to best communicate with your puppy, and provide an opportunity for your best friend to socialize with other dogs. You'll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including house training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach your pup practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program.
How It Works
You and your puppy will attend a basic training class for six weeks. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test will be administered at the last class. Upon passing the test, you will receive an application to send to the AKC for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs under one year of age are welcome to participate, purebreds and mixed breeds. All puppies must be current on vaccines for their age (rabies, distemper, bordetella/kennel cough).
Registration
Class starts Monday, September 12 at 6:30 pm at Pet's Best Friend. The class meets for one hour each week for six weeks. You and your puppy must be present for ALL six classes in order to be eligible for the S.T.A.R. certification. Contact Pet's Best Friend in order to register (252-937-7205 or [email protected]). Limit of 10 puppies per class.

What You Receive
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Medal will be awarded to your pup, and s/he will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy records at the AKC. In addition and in order to continue learning, you will receive the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Package which includes a frameable certificate, the AKC Puppy Handbook, and the AKC monthly newsletter.
