Applications Open for 2017 College Preparatory Invitational Texas

MIAMI, Florida - September 10, 2016 -
The College Preparatory Invitational (CPI) has amended their dates for their CPI Texas event to March 10 - 12, 2017, from the original dates of March 17-19, 2017. The event will take place at the Texas Rose Horse Park, in Tyler, Texas. The CPI is a program that allows young equestrians to explore the college equestrian experience through a comprehensive education, competition and scholarship / community service program. Riders currently enrolled in grades 8 through 12 are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to participate by completing the CPI Texas Online Application.
Texas Rose Horse Park is a family-owned and operated premier event facility located in the beautiful rolling hills of Tyler, Texas. The 1700-acre expanse features a full size lighted indoor arena, six all-weather footing outdoor show arenas including one Grand Prix Jumper Ring, three show barns housing over 350 stalls, a Beginner Novice through Advanced level Cross Country Course, and a concession court. The Texas Rose Horse Park regularly plays host to top equestrian events including the 2013 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships.
Important dates for student riders considering participation in the CPI Texas Event are as follows:

- Application Late (Fee Assessed): December 15, 2016
Important dates for Scholarships available through the CPI Scholarship & Educational Fund:
- CPI Texas Essay Due: February 11, 2017
- CPI Horsemanship Test Deadline: February 18, 2017
- CPI Texas Photo Contest: April 15, 2017
- CPI Texas Service Award: February 1, 2017
The cost to attend the CPI is $530.00, which includes horse show entries, access to the college fair and event speakers, and sponsor-hosted social events throughout the weekend. There is a $30 application fee, which will be put toward attendance fee of $530. Riders who apply for the Walk-Trot-Canter division will be charged $430.
The CPI Florida event takes place January 13-15, 2017 at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Student riders are encouraged to attend both events, and for the first time, the CPI is offering a discount of $100.00 for those that participate in both CPI Florida and CPI Texas.

CPI Jr. Ambassador Program
, volunteers in grades 5-12 have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge through a year long, hands-on learning experience that includes all aspects of managing a series of successful events. Mentored by professionals and working as part of a cohesive team, participants in the program will develop valuable business and life skills including: time management and communication skills, fund raising, event planning, promotions and media relations.
CPI Jr. Ambassadors are required to spend 5 community service hours at the CPI horse show they are attending where they are competing. There they will have the opportunity to assist with every detail from serving as aids for judges and show managers, working in the CPI barn, preparing participant gift bags, registering riders and coaches at the event, performing clerical, data entry and office work, setting up tables and banners, helping colleges to set up their display tables, manage the silent auction, distribution of ribbons and prizes at the horse show ring and more.

webpage. They are encouraged to share over their network via email and social media and let people know about CPI and the opportunities available to support the CPI Scholarship and Educational Fund. In order to cover the costs of participating in the CPI FL event on Jan. 13-15, 2016, Fund My Ride participants must raise $800.00 by November 30, 2016 at 11:59PM EST. Those that are participating in the CPI Texas event on March 17 - 19, 2017 must raise $800.00 by January 15, 2017 at 11:59PM EST. Those who achieve this goal will also have their $30.00 application fee for the CPI Horse Show applied toward their fundraising goal. About the College Preparatory Invitational
The CPI is a three-day event designed to educate student riders about the different formats of college equestrian competitions and provide riders with resources to help them create their desired college equestrian experience. Riders in grades 8 through 12 have a chance to win scholarships in hunt seat equitation competition and participate in educational presentations throughout the event.
