Slowly returning to normal after a beautiful weekend at Road America. It most likely will be our final major 'trackside' show of the summer but we will have a small display at the Meadowdale Motorsports and Memories Car Show at Raceway Woods in Carpentersville on September 20 and I hope to do a day of spectating at the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival on September 14 (in case you want something delivered up there - or if you want to buy me a brat).

In addition to the forthcoming 'James Garner's Motoring Life'' and Steve Zautke's 'Road America', we've added half a dozen additional titles to our book selection this month. They include the biographies of several American racing legends, Joel Finn's latest and the Porsche Museum's Official Anniversary Book Celebrating 50 Years of the Porsche 911. In the 'don't judge a book by its cover' department, don't let the large NASCAR logo on the masthead of Steve Zautke's Road America book scare you. The book is part of a new NASCAR related series from Arcadia Publishing, but with the exception of 11 pages covering the 1956 Grand National race (an excellent snapshot of the early days of Road America, by the way) and 20 pages devoted to the recent Nationwide Series events at RA, the 127 page book is filled with photos of the sports cars, Can Am cars, IMSA GTPs, F5000s, IndyCars and personalities that made RA one of the most famous road racing circuits in the world and the favorite of some of the world's finest drivers. The book also contains a chapter on the pre-Road America races conducted on the highways around the little resort town in the early 1950s. Definitely worth the twenty-two bucks. A fresh shipment of 1/43 scale models from Spark and TSM arrived today. You can check out the list HERE. Our favorites, as they were in the last TSM shipment, are the 1/43 scale Alfa Romeo T33s, like the 2nd place finishing car of Rolf Stommelen and Nanni Galli from the 1971 12 Hours of Sebring, pictured above. Our next shipment from Spark Model will include this 1/43 scale resin replica of the Muscle Milk Oreca 03 Nissan campaigned in the early rounds of the 2014 Tudor United Sportscar Championship by Pickett Racing with drivers Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf.
