Engel Hicks of Dog Star Training to offer obedience classes. Engel has been training dogs for almost 60 years, and is an icon in the Rocky Mount area. She uses only positive reinforcement training, and offers Basic, Intermediate, CGC, and Advanced Classes for dogs and their owners. Classes meet one hour per week for six weeks, for just $100 and are held at our facility. 

Obedience training is the very best thing you can do for the relationship you enjoy with your dog! It opens up a clear line of communication, so that you know what to expect of your dog in all circumstances, and he clearly understands and respects what you expect of him. 

 

Training lays down rules and boundaries for your dog, educating him to become a responsible member of society. This includes how to relate to other dogs and people, basic manners, and the prevention of unacceptable behavior problems such as jumping, barking chewing, digging, etc. It eliminates confusion for both you and your dog and you gain trust and mutual respect for each other. 

BASIC OBEDIENCE CLASS

- For dogs 10 weeks old and up

- No people/dog aggressive dogs (will evaluate)

- No totally disruptive dogs

- Sit, down, stay, come, off, leave it alone, give it    to me, walk on leash - dog learns the words

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

- Successful completion of a basic class

- Build on the basic commands in practical real 

   life situations - dog learns how and when to 

   use the words

- Prepares for CGC testing
