James DiMarzio, CEC, AAC
Past President, ACF Epicurean Club of Boston
Retired Executive Chef, Brigham & Women's Hospital

For those of you who have been involved with the ECB at any point in the last 20+ years, you have met Jim.  Once you have met Jim, you immediately understand that he has been a dedicated and hardworking Culinarian for over 4 decades.  After a long career, Jim is finally able to enjoy the retired life.  Everyone at the ECB is extremely happy and proud of the work Jim accomplished.   Always a consummate culinarian and mentor, Jim has effected all our careers in one way or another.  Congratulations!

As a longtime member of the ECB, Jim has held just about every position on the Board of Directors (some of them multiple times), including President and Chairman of the Board.  The one position that Jim puts the most effort into and takes the most pride in is the annual Golf Tournament, which as of this year and for good reason has been renamed the "James DiMarzio Sr. ECB Golf Classic."

Every year Jim pours his heart, soul and sweat into producing this tournament solely to raise funds for the scholarships the ECB awards each year to students attending higher education institutions so they can realize their career goals within the industry.  Over the years this event has raised funds approaching $100,000.  It has been and continues to be the effort of Jim that makes this so successful for the ECB and the students.

Having been a part of this event for the last several years, I have seen firsthand how much it has grown.  This is always a great day, filled with food, fun, competition and comradery.  It is not often we get to take a break from our daily operations and relax for a few hours, but this is one of those times.  As we know in this industry, we never really stop working and in this case, you will be working on recruiting.  By participating in this event, you will be working to strengthen the up and coming work force, the young men and women that will be entering your operations very soon to help you realize your own business and career goals.

I know Jim has already reached out to many of you for assistance in producing this year's tournament, for those who have already pledged their support, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  Jim's biggest goal is always to have as many golfers as possible.  With that said, if you enjoy the game, no matter what level, and would like to support the next generation of professional's (your, not too distant, future employees), then the best way to help Jim reach his goal of 144 golfers is to sign up today.
