Talent Show
Safari Del Mar

Del Mar Academy celebrated its annual Talent Show on Friday, March 27th. The theme for this year was Safari Del Mar.

The show began with the entire school singing "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses and continued with 22 acts consisting of dances, acrobatics, a magic act, songs and a piano performance.  Spectators' hearts stopped when Lower Elementary student Valentina Spendlingwimmer performed an aerial dance more than three meters above ground.

The evening ended with the whole school singing "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson in a beautiful, ambiance filled setting with candles, music, happy children, and a gorgeous moon and stars above our stage.

Thank you to all who made this special evening possible.
Garden House
Growing the Seeds of Tomorrow

Through our Ecology and Conservation class, children are starting to grow a variety of seeds that will produce edible plants.  Cherry tomatoes, cilantro, basil, mixed greens, pineapples, among other plants are being grown in and around our new Garden House. Beds have been prepared with incredible, rich soil (by adding compost created at DMA with fruit peels and food scraps from students and teachers, horse manure, and saw dust).

We are REUSING materials such as avocado crates to grow our plants. We are also caring for 100 trees donated by the Barri-Guiones Reforestation Project. The trees will be planted in Playa Guiones at the beginning of our rainy season.

The Garden House is dedicated to John Sheffield, father of our founder, Jessi and teacher, Aidi Sheffield and grandfather of our students Kai and Lucia Shook.

We would like to thank the Environmental Committee for making this project possible!
