Janet Mock Proves It Does Get Better

People.com Editor and Transgender Advocate to Speak at Conference

Janet Mock WBI Panel
Each year at the NGLCC's National Business and Leadership conference, the Women's Business Initiative (WBI) panel features amazing LBT women who have broken barriers both in business and the cultural context of the world we live in.

Just over a year ago, People.com staff editor Janet Mock shared her teenage transition story in the pages of Marie Claire and then in a heartfelt It Gets Better video (see below).

A graduate of the University of Hawaii and New York University's Master's program in journalism, Janet lives, writes, and works in New York City, where she's covered pop culture and entertainment for more than five years. Janet also works on the programs committee at the Hetrick-Martin Institute, where she's building the LGBTQ center's transgender-specific programming, tailored to creating resources and services that empower young women.

Janet will join a group of powerful LBT women on stage during the WBI panel on Thursday, August 9 at 3 p.m. Don't miss out on this opportunity to hear from the vibrant, intelligent voices of women who are crushing the lavender ceiling.

2012 Executive Education Scholarship Recipients

Tuck School at Dartmouth
Tuck School at Dartmouth
Last month, four certified LGBT Business Enterprise owners attended the week-long "Building a High-Performing Minority Business" course at Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth, on scholarship.

Learn more about the businesses that attended: Since 2010, the NGLCC has awarded certified LGBT Business Enterprise owners with scholarships to build the capacity of their businesses. Funded by NGLCC corporate partners, these courses provide an amazing opportunity to challenge your business plan, tune your technical skills, and connect with other diverse entrepreneurs.

"I was reminded of how important it is to continue to learn, push ourselves, and be a part of a community of like-entrepreneurial-minds all eager to make their businesses stronger. The diversity of the class was an incredible asset throughout the week and the relationships formed, even if temporarily, were as important as the coursework...Tuck was a rewarding endurance marathon."
-Robert Raash, Liberty & Church

Applications for 2013 scholarships will be available exclusively for certified LGBT Business Enterprises at the end of the year. To learn more about this opportunity in the meantime, please visit www.nglcc.org/scholarship.
