Library Closings
For the Good Friday and Easter weekend, the New Haven Free Public Library will close:

Park for free after 4:30 pm adjacent to Ives Main Library
Yale's Lot 51, located on Temple Street between Wall and Elm Streets, is available after 4:30 pm for the public, Monday through Friday and all day on Saturday. Yale's Lot 51 has capacity for about 70 cars.

Construction for Ives Squared, the Library's place for entrepreneurship and innovation, is now underway with an opening in June. Discover the art of making Pysanky-intricately decorated Ukrainian Easter eggs. These colorful ornaments are created using empty eggshells with a stylus, beeswax, and dye. Creative Minds: The Work of New Haven Youth
displays current work of high school students from across the New Haven Public School District. The selections featured in this exhibit are just a snapshot of the fantastic artwork being created in the Visual Arts programs throughout the New Haven Public Schools. New Haven Public Schools proudly offer a cohesive, comprehensive, sequential Visual Arts curriculum developed and taught by over 70 art teachers. From their studies and guided by teachers, students think critically, learn the language of the visual arts and create artwork which reflects personal experience and imagination.

Meet NHFPL Staff Member: Haley Grunloh
Haley Grunloh grew up in Hamden, Connecticut. Following her school age yeas, Haley attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where she studied digital arts and animation. When not working at the New Haven Free Public Library, she enjoys reading books about natural history, hiking in East Rock Park, painting, drawing cartoons, and making crafts - for which she has a website!
What is your role at the New Haven Free Public Library?
I am a Library Technical Assistant who works at the Mitchell Branch Library in Westville. I do things like process incoming books, tutor patrons in computer literacy as well as plan and market programs.
What do you enjoy most about working at NHFPL?
One of my favorite creative tasks is coming up with fun crafts and other activities for children's programs that tie together my art background with books and stories.
What book are you currently reading or is on your nightstand waiting to be explored?
I have two books going at once - In the Shadow of Man by Jane Goodall and The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Sydney Padua.
