Lights On Afterschool Poster Contest:
We're looking for the best artist to showcase their creativity - by 6/1

Last year, the Afterschool Alliance received thousands of youth artwork submissions from afterschool programs across the nation. Once again for 2015, they are encouraging all of their program participants to submit artwork that celebrates afterschool programs and conveys the importance of keeping the lights on afterschool.

The Afterschool Alliance knows how afterschool programs keep kids safe, help working families and inspire kids to learn. Have your youth participants show the world how their afterschool program has benefited their lives.

The 2015 Lights On Afterschool Poster contest is also a great opportunity for an afterschool program to gain national recognition for the great enrichment opportunities it offers since the winner's afterschool program will be credited on the poster, too!

The winning poster design will be printed on tens of thousands of posters and mailed to more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool events worldwide. The winning artist will also be featured on the Afterschool Alliance site, blog, Afterschool Storybook and more.

The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2015.

Contest details and submission guidelines are available for download now by clicking here.

Keep in mind that the winning artwork will need to be scanned to become a digital image, so avoid using textures or raised materials.

They love bright colors that jump off the poster so please use materials that won't smear or rub off like markers, paint and pens. They often work better than crayons, watercolors or chalk.

Feel free to get your future graphic designers and computer programmers involved by encouraging them to submit their artwork in the digital form.

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) Division of Child Protection and Permanency (CP&P) and the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announce the availability of housing vouchers and funding to support a permanent supportive housing program for child welfare involved families who are confronting homelessness or inadequate housing.

CP&P and DCA are partnering on an initiative to strengthen and keep together families who have unstable housing and are involved in the child welfare system. This program model is informed by a three-year, Keeping Families Together (KFT) pilot, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and managed by the Corporation for Supportive Housing1 (CSH), a national non-profit organization that helps communities develop supportive housing to prevent and end homelessness.

This RFP invites eligible providers to submit proposals for the purpose of awarding funds through an open, competitive process to non-profit providers and universities (state and private). Joint proposals may be submitted, but a lead agency must be identified and if selected, DCF's contract will be with the lead agency.

One award will be granted to serve families with open child welfare cases in up to two adjacent New Jersey counties as outlined above. DCA will provide up to twenty-five (25) 10-year project-based State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) vouchers, and DCF will provide up to $640,000 to support the development and implementation of case management and supportive housing services and provide client assistance to furnish and lease up housing units for the targeted population. These funds are expected to serve a minimum of 25 families at one time.

To be eligible, applicants must have a concrete plan to secure 25 affordable housing units in their proposed county(ies) for the 10 year period. Important details are below:
  • The last day to submit your bid will be Monday, June 29, 2015 by 12pm ET.
  • A mandatory bidders conference will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10am ET / 101 South Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08852
