Children help teachers at NMSU's School for Young Children
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but on the New Mexico State University campus, there is an entire village of children helping to raise teachers.  Situated near the south end of campus, Myrna's Children's Village exists as a collaboration of seven different programs designed to serve the community in various ways. While the locale is known as an educational, financially accessible and high-quality childcare service for Las Cruces families, the Village also provides a platform for early childhood education students at NMSU to gain valuable training.Read More
Community invited to documentary screening, panel discussion

The community is invited to a free screening of the documentary, "Stolen Education," with a keynote address by documentarian Enrique Aleman Jr. from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the NMSU Dona Ana Community College East Mesa Campus Auditorium. A panel discussion also will be included in "Juntos! Working Together, Working as One."  The event is part of "Exploring Equity, Community & Hope in New Mexico," a series of three community gatherings, hosted this spring by New Mexico State University College of Education associate professor Azadeh Osanloo, who serves as the Stan Fulton Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools. Sandra Romero Receives Above & Beyone Award
The NMSU Board of Regents presented the Above & Beyond Award to Sandra Romero with the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders. The Above & Beyond Award recognizes full-time employees who go the extra distance in service to any and all aspects of the NMSU system. Individuals are recognized for performance that goes "above and beyond" their regular responsibilities and for demonstrating a positive attitude that inspires others.  Romero is responsible for the management of the office in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders. She meets the academic and administrative needs of 15 faculty members, up to 20 adjunct instructors, 18 graduate assistants and four work-study students.
NMSU to host virtual action research symposium
The New Mexico State University College of Education and Office of International and Border Programs will host a virtual action research symposium from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Milton Hall Room 85.  The symposium is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is encouraged, to register contact Brenda Brown at 575-646-7965 or brendas@nmsu.edu.  The symposium will include presenters from five universities from across the globe that will address the question "how can action research support educational reform at a nation level?" Read More 
NMSU DanceSport Company earns medals at regionals, advances to nationals

The New Mexico State University DanceSport Company competed at the USA Dance Southwest Regional Championships in Los Angeles in February and 13 members earned first- and second-place finishes. The team had 14 members qualify for the national competition in March in Baltimore.  Read More
NMSU named to 2015 U.S. News & World Report best education graduate schools list

New Mexico State University is listed among the best graduate schools for education for 2015 according to U.S. News & World Report.  NMSU ranks 116 on this year's compilation and is tied with peer institutions such as the University of New Mexico, Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University. "The College of Education graduate program is highly sought after by students and ranked at this level by U.S. News & World Report for a variety of reasons," said Michael Morehead, dean of the NMSU College of Education.
