FSG and the Collective Impact Forum recently released a new report, Guide to Evaluating Collective Impact.
This three-part guide offers detailed advice on how to plan for and implement effective performance measurement and evaluation activities in the context of collective impact. Additionally, Stanford Social Innovation Review published FSG's "Strategic Philanthropy for a Complex World" in their May 2014 issue.

Mark Neithercut, founder of Neithercut Philanthropy Advisors, recently had an infographic published by the Council on Foundations. The infographic focuses on the importance of creating, implementing and monitoring strategies to achieve a foundation's objectives.
Barbara R Greenberg of The Philanthropic Group facilitated a June telephone Learning Circle for 60 funders interested in creating age-friendly communities. The publication "Building Great Communities: Consider an Age-Friendly Community Assessment," co-authored by Mia Oberlink, Jan Schwarz and Greenberg, was the text for the discussion. Published by Grantmakers in Aging, the article points out steps to take before conducting a community assessment, the importance of collecting data that leads to action, a range of potential stakeholders to be engaged, and five assessment tools reviewed by funders in aging.
Huffington Post featured the CORR Action Fund and the General Commission on Religion and Race of the United Methodist Church in a recent post, "Yes, Religion Can Still Be A Force For Good In the World: 100 Examples How." Barbara R Greenberg and Jan Schwarz of The Philanthropic Group are the grantmaking advisers to the CORR Action Fund, which will award $1.0 million in grants late in 2014 for initiatives and campaigns that increase intercultural competency or foster vital conversations about race, cultural diversity, and systemic equity.
Thaler Pekar, CEO of Thaler Pekar & Partners, published Storytelling and the Dangers of Disbelief in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, reflecting on the controversy surrounding the news of Somaly Mann's false narrative. Thaler also presented Sharing Your Foundation's Story: Past, Present & Future, at the Council on Foundations CEO/Trustee Retreat, and the firm was awarded a Telly Award for Internet/Online Video, Social Responsibility, for a video they produced on behalf of The Atlantic Philanthropies.
Arabella Advisors recently conducted an evaluation of The Rockefeller Foundation's program-related investments (PRI), which uncovered many findings that are relevant to anyone interested in PRIs or approaches to impact investing. The report and accompanying case studies confirm that with the right components in place, PRIs can be highly effective in accomplishing social goals and achieving impact. Rockefeller's decision to release the report publicly sets a precedent for sharing insights that can strengthen the impact investing field.
