 From the Executive Director...
During NNCG's most recent webinar, the team from TCC Group talked about the importance of fostering a learning culture - both for their foundation clients and within their own consulting practice. The session reminded me of the frequent message from a college president I greatly admired who loved to paraphrase Eric Hoffer's comment "In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists."

As a professional learning community, NNCG wants to be sure our members and other stakeholders are equipped to deal with the world of philanthropy as it evolves. Our webinars, online Knowledge Center, convenings across the country and additional programs being planned all have learning as a fundamental purpose and goal.

What have you learned recently that is helping you navigate the changing world of philanthropy? What would you like to learn tomorrow; over the next month; during the coming year?
NNCG Receives Two-Year Grant from Ford Foundation
We're delighted to announce NNCG's new grant from the Ford Foundation for core support of our work. Ford's Program Officer for Philanthropy, Chris Cardona, stated, "We're pleased to support NNCG's vital work in shining a light on the role of consultants in effective philanthropic practice. We and so many of our fellow funders rely on a supply of good consultants to make the work happen, and NNCG sets the standard for quality."

"We are grateful to the Ford Foundation for their confidence in the work of NNCG as a champion of quality in the field of philanthropy consulting," said Steering Committee Chair Kris Putnam-Walkerly. "Their investment will not only expand the capacity of NNCG as an organization, but will help elevate the quality and presence of high-caliber consulting for the entire field of philanthropy."
NNCG Across the U.S.
Ninety philanthropy consultants, grantmakers and others interested in philanthropy recently attended three NNCG programs from the east to the west coast and in-between. We thank the Meyer Foundation and Community Foundation for the National Capital Region in Washington D.C., the Donors Forum (now Forefront) in Chicago, the Alliance for Nonprofit Management and the Foundation Center for hosting and partnering with us to increase awareness and stimulate discussion about the vital and growing contributions philanthropy consultants are making to effective grantmaking.
