NOBLE National President Gregory A. Thomas Attends White House Summit on Police Data Initiative

Held by Senior Administration and Department of Justice Officials, the Meeting Addressed Open Data to Increase Police Citizen Relations

Last month, NOBLE National President Gregory A. Thomas traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the  Police Data Initiative Year of Progress: Building on the President's Call to Action to Leverage Open Data to Increase Trust between Police and Citizens summit.
Senior White House officials and the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services held the meeting  on April 22, 2016 to discuss progress made by law enforcement age ncies under the Police Data Initiative (PDI), with a specific focus on ways that leading law enforcement agencies have worked with technologists, researchers, and community members to leverage technology and data innovation to increase trust between police and citizens as called for by the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing.

Also Meets With Prospective Members of the Jamaica NOBLE Chapter

At the invitation of Dr. Carl Williams and the leadership of the JCF, on April 29, 2016, NOBLE National President Gregory A. Thomas traveled to Kingston, Jamaica to deliver the Keynote Address at the spring commencement of the Jamaican Constabulary Force (JCF) which has been in existence since 1671 and has rigorous admission standards.

President Thomas' address reminded the graduates that they are providing a "critical service to the citizens of Jamaica."  He further noted that the experience gained and challenges met in the United States, "dictate that you should be prepared to do your job as guardians and not as warriors."
"The challenge for you is to be prepared to provide professional policing and guardian services to the many (law abiding citizens), while properly separating out those who might engage in criminal behavior," Mr. Thomas emphasized. High ranking American and Jamaican officials including U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica the Honorable Luis G. Moreno and the Honorable Robert Montague, Jamaica Minister of National Security attended the April 29th ceremony. In addition to delivering the address, Thomas met with prospective members of the NOBLE Jamaica chapter.
