THINK ABOUT IT

Child Abductions

Some do not agree with me that an attempted abduction is a "deadly force incident". I will always include an attempted abduction as a deadly force incident.

As a parent of 5 - all now grown and married, and a grandparent of 11 - I know very well how your head has to be on a swivel at all times while moving through the public with children. Child predators are out there.

On Saturday June 1st, a woman took her 10-year-old daughter to roller-skate at the First Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA. As the little girl enjoyed the fun, her mother became distracted just for just a little bit. During that period a car rolled into the parking lot and the man driving began to chat with the little girl. It started as joking about racing between his car and the skates, and as the joking went well quickly led to him complimenting her on how pretty she was - that she could be a model. Then he asked her to get into his car with him.

The mother had seen the conversation by this point. As she approached the man sped away. The mother did the right thing by calling police as soon as the little girl told her the nature of the conversation. An abduction attempt was interrupted at the last minute in this case.                                                   Read more...
