Help us celebrate NPSD's

50th Anniversary

Get ready to have some fun! The 2015-2016 school year marks the District's 50th Anniversary and we want you to help us celebrate!

Many of you may remember the 50th anniversary of North Penn High School 10 years ago (yes, the high school is actually older than the District itself) and activities that focused around just that school. This time, we want a district-wide celebration involving all of our families and community members! The Community Engagement department will be leading events throughout the school year and encourage your help planning and participating in them.

If you are interested in helping with planning and managing aspects of the celebration, please email Erika Shaedle at [email protected] or call 215-853-1027.

Also as part of this milestone, we will be creating a commemorative school calendar and want to feature well wishes and advertisements from families, Home & School organizations, community organizations, and area businesses. There are a variety of advertising opportunities and would love for you to be a part of this special time in the district history. For more information, please click here.

Dear Community,

I'm very proud and excited to announce that the North Penn School District (NPSD) Educational Foundation's Second Annual Online Auction is officially open now through May 15th at 6:00 p.m. If you thought last year's items were exciting, you will be more than pleased to see what our generous donors have in store for you this May. All North Penn community members are invited to bid in the online auction to help the Foundation raise money to provide innovative learning experiences for over 12,500 students in the North Penn School District.

With items ranging from gift certificates to spas and local grocery stores, tickets to museums, theater performances and sporting events, group gatherings at your favorite local spots, and NPSD exclusives like front row graduation tickets and much more - there's something for everyone in this year's online auction!

All funds raised through this auction will return to NPSD classrooms through grants for the 2015-2016 school year, and years to come. Bid items and raffle baskets will be sure to provide community members with a unique, memorable experience.

The NPSD Educational Foundation depends on its community members to maintain funding in support of our students through innovative classroom projects. While similar organizations often face financial challenges, it is with a great deal of pride and appreciation that I thank our generous community for keeping the NPSD Educational Foundation thriving through their gracious donations. This allows the Foundation to continue its efforts to open students' eyes to education in a new, innovative light.

The Foundation has shown dedication to and belief in our students, staff and community by providing close to $800,000in funding for special projects and grants. When the organization started in 1988, it contributed more than $6,000 through 11 grants. Contrast this number to our current school year, when the Foundation awarded approximately $28,000 through 45 grants. Through fundraising efforts, the organization has expanded the opportunities available to North Penn students. With the community's support of our 2nd annual NPSD Educational Foundation Online Auction, these experiences will reach even more NPSD students and staff.

Bidding will close at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15th. Be sure to keep a close eye on your favorite items, as competition is sure to be neck-and-neck for these "once-in-a-lifetime" North Penn experiences!

Sincerely,

Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.
Superintendent, NPSD

NPSD Elementary Schools Welcome Volunteers for 17th Annual Community Reading Day

On May 5th, each of the North Penn School District's (NPSD) 13 elementary schools were visited by more than 100 members of the PennSuburban Chamber of Commerce as well as volunteers from 75 companies as part of the Chamber's 17th Annual Community Reading Day. Second-grade students gathered around representatives and sat "pretzel-style" as volunteers read aloud short stories of mystery, adventure, history and make-believe. When the stories were finished, many volunteers even donated their book to the class's library.

Community Reading Day has become a special day for second-grade students and teachers throughout the district, as it's something they look forward to each year. NPSD would like to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time and books to our second graders in the district, as well as the PennSuburban Chamber of Greater Montgomery County for organizing another successful event this year.

The PennSuburban Chamber of Commerce Community Reading Day is for second graders in the greater Montgomery County area. The event reached over 2,000 students in 99 classrooms at 30 public and private schools.
