A 22" refinery pipeline carrying a mixture of effluent and oil was experiencing internal corrosion at the 6 o'clock position. The composite calculations were based on the operating pressure of 73 psi (5 bar). Since the pipeline had already began to spring a few leaks, an immediate repair was necessary. After the leak origin was identified, Composite-Clamp was applied to the leaking areas, allowing technicians sufficient time to fully complete surface preparation and complete the repair. Syntho-PoxyHC was used to

fill the defects, as well as reinforce the Composite-Clamp. Syntho-SubseaLV was applied to the entire circumference of the 50 foot section, followed by the specified layers of Syntho-GlassXT. Within only a few hours, the technicians were able to repair and restore the pipeline's integrity. We invite you to speak with one of our specialists and see why NRI's innovation, experience, and engineering know-how are recognized as the best in our industry.

NRI's newest product introductionNRI Composite-Clamp

Composite-Clamp was designed to seal leaks on pipelines inNRI Composite-Clamp    conjunction with our engineered composite systems. It is made with powder coated carbon steel and is supplied with an internal rubber patch for ease of leak sealing. Clamps measure 3.5" in width and are available in lengths designed for diameters ranging from 2" through 8". Using NRI's convenient "clamp linking design," several clamps can be linked together to form a clamp for pipe diameters to 24". The Composite-Clamp has a very low profile making the composite overwrap easy.

NRI Viper-Skin In-House Testing
NRI Viper-Skin In-House Pressure Testing

Our Engineering Department recently completed in-house pressure testing of Viper-Skin, a hybrid carbon and glass fiber composite used for pipeline integrity, and the results were phenomenal. Just a little background: The burst test was performed on a 6 inch OD Schedule 40 - Grade B pipe. In brief, the 80% wall lost defect was filled with Syntho-PoxyHC, a two-part load transferring epoxy, then Syntho-SubseaLV, an epoxy mastic sealant system, was applied, and finally 20 layers of Viper-Skin was wrapped. If a photo is word a thousand words, then these photos are worth the burst pipe results

of 5,734 psi (395 bar).  In conclusion, this demonstrates that NRI's

composite repair and reinforcement technology is Stronger Than
