NEW NAME PUTS "ARTS" FRONT AND CENTER AT A DESTINATION 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING

SAN DIEGO - The NTC Foundation (NTCF) is proud to announce that "NTC at Liberty Station" will now be called " ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station" with a new logo and branding. "This name change reaffirms our commitment to establish the vibrancy and value of the arts to the entire Liberty Station neighborhood and San Diego," explained NTCF Executive Director Alan Ziter.

"When the first two newly renovated historic Navy buildings opened in 2006, there was not much here for consumers to experience. The NTC at Liberty Station name was developed in recognition of community awareness for the venue's history as a former Naval Training Center. Now, Liberty Station has grown up around us into a landmark new neighborhood with the arts front and center," Ziter added.

The growth at this burgeoning hub for arts and culture - and all that is happening in Liberty Station - made it increasingly confusing to use the terms NTC and Liberty Station. This marketing collaboration now presents one recognizable identity, one website, one Liberty Station to the community.

ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station also encompasses more of the dynamic Liberty Station neighborhood than the previous NTC at Liberty Station. With the largest number of artists and arts groups anywhere in San Diego County outside of Balboa Park, ARTS DISTRICT includes 80 galleries, museums, artists, dance and music studios and adds the restaurants, retail and Liberty Public Market filling 38 renovated historic Navy buildings- as well as the Loma Club golf course - from Roosevelt Road to the south to Lytton Street to the north.

The addition of a seasonal ice rink, new public market, new galleries and distinctive dining experiences further make this a premiere destination for San Diego residents and visitors. The upcoming opening of theLOT luxury cinema and café, MK Envisions Galleries, and Moniker General multi-purpose arts and community center will only add to the vibrancy of the destination, which is already bursting with authenticity, creativity, heritage and innovation.

New branding includes a new website page at www.libertystation.com/artsdistrict, a new logo and new social media platforms.

The new ARTS DISTRICT logo has a fresh, contemporary look while still respecting the district's storied Navy history. "By putting the arts front and center in our destination's name, we can further raise the visibility of ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station and encourage attendance by visitors and residents alike," added Ziter. "The new brand and website clearly articulate our role as the jewel of Liberty Station and a premiere arts destination for San Diego."
